Specialised court soon for investment and commerce

he Supreme Judicial Council has formed a commit- tee to prepare for the launch of a court of invest- Tment and commerce, local Arabic daily Arrayah reported. The committee is working on previews of the new court to implement the directives of HE Dr Hassan bin Lahdan al-Mohannadi, the chairman of the council. A source told the daily that the new court, set to be in- augurated soon, would have jurisdiction in implementing fi nancial and commercial laws, in addition to expediting the related procedures in this regard to help investors with timely processing of their legal needs. Dr al-Mohannadi had recently unveiled a permanent project to develop the mechanism of the various justice sys- tems in the country, with special focus on integration and co-ordination with the other entities concerned in the coun- try, aiming at enhancing the independence of the judiciary. He also pointed out that one of the main components of the project is to create a specialised court for investment and commerce to speed up the litigation process and help inves- tors with easily accessible services in this regard. The court is also expected to create an investment friendly environment in the country and attract more foreign investments as well. The plan includes developing the related laws, legis- lation and regulations taking into consideration the vast technological advancement, Arrayah added.
