An Australian Christian Band Story MATT BAKER Matt Baker from Lessie Does Shares an Interesting Australian Christian Band Story An Australian Christian Band Story MATT BAKER Matt Baker from Lessie Does shares an interesting Australian Christian band story. In 1995 the Australian Christian band scene began to grow both in the world and within the Christian community. One venue in Adelaide, South Australia called the Underground, literally grew a hundred Christian bands. The Christian music scene in Australia then progressed to achieve many state number one records. This exciting chapter of music produced the largest independent Christian band scene in the history of Australia. This Australian Christian music scene then continued to grow and become national. These bands achieved national recognition. They played at festivals, received radio play and they also toured nationally. This is an exciting book written and expressed with a band documentary writing style. The book was made and developed from real band documentary interviews. Leaving the World Behind; Lessie Does HOPE TO FIND HEAVEN. I dream of a place of harmony! I dream of a I place where people will not act so selfishly. In many ways earth is a magnificent home. God’s creation is beautiful and yet at the same time it’s a difficult world for many people. So many of us live in a cruel reality! When you leave this world what will you hope to find? What are you searching for? As a child I was given a dream of eternity from God and then later in 2 LESSIETHE UNDERGROUND DOES life my band Lessie Does sang about it, we sang about a place of harmony, yet we also sang about what this world is really like. This topic of eternal life with God was simply one message that would be expressed by Lessie. God has communicated the importance of eternity to me again and again. He is helping me to focus on heaven! Lessie Does was simply one group associated with the Underground band community in the land of Oz.

Worship at Home—3 January 2021 Opening Call To Worship from PSALM 8 O God, our God, how majestic is your name in all the earth! When we look at your Heavens, the work of your hands, The moon and the stars, why are you mindful of us? You have made us with glory You have created us with honour and joy O God, our God, how majestic is your name in all the earth! In the wisdom of all ages, God gives us life. Let us praise God for the wonder of His works around us! A New Year Message from Easter This week, with the gorgeous snow, our kids were keen to go sledging. We dug out scarves, hats, gloves and headed to Swanston. As they took turns to sledge, I climbed higher to enjoy the moon rising over snowy Edinburgh. The full yellow moon was gorgeous above Christmas lights which were twinkling across the city. I wanted to wait until after dusk, when we could see lights twinkling above us too. Specifically, I hoped for a sighting of Jupiter and Saturn’s December convergence. These giant planets are closer now than for centuries. It’s fascinating that theologians, astronomers, (and even astrologers!) suggest this rare event may have caused the bright ‘night star’ event which led the ‘wise men’ to journey to Bethlehem. These were learned men who mapped the heavens for such unique, rare signs. It is impossible to gaze at the night sky on a crisp winter’s eve and not feel a sense of wonder and awe, as so beautifully expressed in the poem of Psalm 8, our call to worship.

  • Evangelical Revivals in New Zealand, and an Outline of Some Basic Principles of Revivals
EVANGELICAL REVIVALS IN NEW ZEALAND -----//----- A History of Evangelical Revivals in New Zealand, and an Outline of Some Basic Principles of Revivals. -----//----- by Robert Evans and Roy McKenzie. -----//----- Published by the Authors, in conjunction with ColCom Press. PREFACE Many years of experience in the Lord's work, and the relative ease of retirement from parish responsibilities, have provided both of us with the time to carry out a work of love in presenting to the public this history of evangelical revivals in New Zealand. It is an aspect of the work of God which we believe is of enormous importance, both for church and for society, but which has been widely neglected for many years. The research for this book has relied, in the first instance, upon our privately-owned library resources. The main public libraries to which we are indebted are the New South Wales Uniting Church Archives Library and the Camden Library of the United Theological College, both in North Parramatta, the Hewitson Library of the Knox Theological Hall in Dunedin, the John Deane Memorial Library of the Bible College of New Zealand in Auckland (formerly The New Zealand Bible Training Institute), the Moore College Library (Anglican) in Sydney, and the Alexander Turnbull Library in Wellington. We also acknowledge the help of Miss Ferne Weimer, Director of the Billy Graham Center Library, in Wheaton, Illinois. We have also been indebted to many individuals. Chief amongst these have been the Rev. Dr. J. Graham Miller, now living in Wangaratta, Victoria, Dr. Brett Knowles of Dunedin, and the Rev. John Thomson, now living in Nelson.

  • Garbage & the Temper Trap Join for Next Winery Series!
Media Release – Thursday July 28 GARBAGE & THE TEMPER TRAP JOIN FOR NEXT WINERY SERIES! With the Preatures, Tash Sultana and Adalita a day on the green has assembled an epic line-up for its next series of winery concerts. Alt-rock pioneers Garbage and Australia’s own multi-platinum chart toppers The Temper Trap will come together as part of their respective national tours for five outdoor events through November/December. The concerts will feature a stellar under-card with special guests The Preatures, Tash Sultana and Adalita. The five band bill kicks off at Victoria’s Rochford Wines on Saturday November 26. These will be the Garbage’s first Australian shows since 2013 and celebrate their acclaimed sixth studio album Strange Little Birds (out now via Liberator Music). To create Strange Little Birds, their first album in four years, Garbage (Shirley Manson, Steve Marker, Duke Erikson and Butch Vig) drew on a variety of influences including the albums they loved growing up. Upon its June release, the album debuted at #9 on the ARIA Album Chart and picked up widespread acclaim: ‘20-plus years after forming, each band member is still fired up to mine new sounds and approaches for inspiration. That willingness to be uncomfortable and look beneath the surface makes Strange Little Birds a rousing success.’ – The A.V. Club ‘The electronic rockers return with a sixth studio album as cool and caustic as their 1995 debut’ – NME ‘Garbage haven’t released an album this immediate, melodically strong and thematically interesting since their self-titled 1995 debut.’ – Mojo In support of the album’s release, Garbage performed a powerful two-song performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! – watch ‘Empty’ here and ‘Push It’ here.

With its origins dating back to the late 1960s, CCM resembles musical styles of popular-secular culture while retaining fundamental Christian values in lyrical content. This historical perspective of CCM marketing strategies, CCM music television, CCM and secular music, arts worlds within CCM, and the science of storytelling in CCM aims to provide readers with the context and understanding of the significant role that CCM plays in modern-day evangelism.

Designed and built in-house by our staff of engineers, this robotic “Drum Machine,” called the Gluing Gantry, ensures that every Evans head has a true collar. A series of vacuum fixtures holds the film in place for each head while the robotic gluing arm circles above the hoop and dispenses epoxy. The result is a drumhead that tunes both easily and consistently. At Evans, we do it right the first time. And every time.
