9. (GEOLOGY AND RESERVE)

9.3 Briefly describe the topography and general geology and local / mine geology of the mineral deposit including drainage pattern.

The Area applied under mining lease falls under the Survey of India toposheet No.72P/14and bounded by Latitude N 24°44'50.50" to N 24°44'59.22" and Longitude E 87°47'4.89" to E 87°47'14.91".

PHYSIOGRAPHY:

The major part of the region is covered with continuous chain of hills, which are made up of a number of lava flows displaying in the shape of step like terraces. The hills extending for kilometers together rise steeply for more than 100m. Slopes of the hills are drained by small gullies which join the nalas. These nalas become dry during summer. The major river in the area is River Ganga which passes at a distance of about 20km east of the working area. The other rivers of the district are Gumani, Torai,Bansloi and Brahmni. All the rivers flow from west to east direction except river Gumani which flows from SW to NE direction. The drainage pattern of the district is dendritic. All the rivers are tributaries of river Ganga and are seasonal in nature. The lower altitude in the area is 42mRL at the western part of the area whereas the highest altitude attended by the area is 47mRL in eastern part forming an even topography. The entire area is rocky and barren.

9.2 General Geology :

REGIONAL GEOLOGY:

The general stratigraphic succession in the hills consists of Precambrian granite gneiss and schist overlain by Talchir, Baraker, Dubrajpur, Rajmahal volcanic and intertrappeans, laterite and alluvium.

RADHA NAND SINGH REG. NO. RQP/ RNC/ 145/ 2011/A 9

Mining Plan of Fatehpur Stone Mine of M/s Mishra Stone Works Mouza-Fatehpur (Area 8.34 Acres).

The general succession of the litho units in the area is as follows: Laterite Gond- Rajmahal Group Basaltic Flows and intertrappeans Wana (the number of flows and intertrappeans varies) Super- …………………Unconformity…………………………………………… Group Dubrajpur Group Barakar Group Talchir Group ……………………..Unconformity …………………………………. Precambrian Granite gneiss and schist with metabasics

The stratigraphic column of Rajmahal Trap varies from area to area and the number of the basaltic flows and intertrappeans also varies. Basaltic flows have been identified on the basis of recognition of intertrappeans beds at the interfaces of the different flows. In course of the present investigation field evidences were obtained to throw some light on certain aspects of volcanism in Pakur area viz, loci of eruption, nature of eruption, eruptive breaks, and sedimentary environment. The aforesaid local evidences aided by regional linear extension and overall configuration of the Rajmahal Trap indicate that the lava were poured out essentially as fissure vent flows and such vent had a N-S trend. The Pakur volcanic suite is overwhelmingly dominated by Tholeiitic Basalt of

more or less uniform composition.

9.3 The topographic plan of the lease area prepared on a scale of 1 : 1000 or 1 : 2000 with contour interval of 3 to 10 m. depending upon the topography of the area should be taken as the base plan for preparation of geological plan. The details of exploration already carried out

RADHA NAND SINGH REG. NO. RQP/ RNC/ 145/ 2011/A 10

Mining Plan of Fatehpur Stone Mine of M/s Mishra Stone Works Mouza-Fatehpur (Area 8.34 Acres).

including evidences of mineral existence should be shown on the geological plan.

The topographical plan of the applied area has been prepared on a scale of 1:2000 with contour interval of 1m is being enclosed. The plan has been taken as the base plan for preparation of geological plan. Geological Plan & sections on a scale of 1:2000 is also enclosed as Plate No.4 The details of exploration already carried out and the procedure adopted for preparation of geological plan are narrated below. Exploration Carried out in the Area: The reserves estimation of stone in the applied area has been done on the basis of field observations, surface exposure as well as the quarry data observed directly from the surrounding quarry exposure. An old working is exist in the area in which stone bed is exposed. The volcanic rocks of Pakur area apart from the intertrappeans sedimentary beds within the confines of the present area can be classified as (i) Basalt (ii) Andesite and Trachyte. The typical Basalt of the area is dark black to greenish grey in color occasionally showing resinous mega-phenocryst of plagioclase. The amygdales of quartz, zeolite, and calcite are common. Microscopically the rock comprises of clinopyroxene, plagioclase, primary glass, iron ore and rarely olivine. The Basaltic flows are mostly horizontal to sub-horizontal having dip of low varying from 10 to 20 towards S 15 E mark the direction of the flow. Based on the above geological observations and on basis of the test pits made in the area as demarcated in Surface Geological Plan and Sections (Plate No. 4) , Proved, Probable and Possible optimum geological reserves and also the reserves as per UNFC classification has been estimated. The measured mineral resources is computed up to a depth of 20m from the exposed mineral body and below this level further 5m depth is considered for indicated mineral resources as well as on the surface beyond the measured mineral resources further influence from both sides has been considered. The area of

Mining Plan of Fatehpur Stone Mine of M/s Mishra Stone Works Mouza-Fatehpur (Area 8.34 Acres).

the stone has been computed and multiplied with the thickness of the stone. The volume of the rock is again multiplied with the tonnage factor which considered as 2.9. The following basic parameter has been considered for estimation of reserve of stone in the ML area from 43m to 47m surfaces RL: 1. Surface RL: - 43mRL to 47mRL 2. Depth of proved reserve- up to - 20 m RL 3. Depth of the probable reserve- up to - 15m RL 4. Depth of the possible reserve- up to - 10m RL 5. Recovery factor (over all) - - 95% 6. Tonnage factor - 2.9MT/cum 7. Generation of sub grade- - Nil 8. Thickness of overburden 0.5 It is also proposed to ascertain the presence of Stone beyond 10mRL depth for further scientific exploration during mining operation and additional land beyond the ML area for formation of benches to approach the mineralized zone (Stone).

Method of reserve estimation:

Concidering the above parameters, the different categories of geological reserve have estimated by surface area method as follow:

GR=A x D x RF x TF

Where

GR- Geological Reserve (MT)

A- Surface area (sq.m)

D- Depth of mineral (m)

RF- Recovery factor (MT/cum)

TF- Tonnage factor (MT/cum)

MMR,1961 under the strict supervision of qualified persons and all safety

precaution i.e. marking the danger zone with red flag , use of warning signals

and providing blasting shelter will be taken. Although the mine is far away

from any population, the following points should be adopted.

1. During handling of explosive all care should be taken that no inflammable should be there. 2. Only safety explosive container with explosive license should be used for safe and secure transportation of explosives. 3. Efficient siren should be blown prior to the blasting & clearance of the blasting.

(h) Brief description on method of procurement and storage of explosives As described above.

10 Waste Disposal:

(a) Location ( show it in the development plan ):

During the five years of proposed working it is not possible to reclaim the worked out area as the stone is continuing in depth. So, it is proposed to create external dump in the area and for this an area near the southwestern corner near pillar P3 is chosen for dumping waste. During the first three year of the plan period, first layer of dump will be created. Fourth and fifth years of working the waste will be dumped over the first layer of the dump created during the first three years. Parapet wall and garland drain will be made at the toe of the dump. (Location of year wise overburden Dumping Yard have been shown in first to five year Development Plan & Sections, Plate No.5 to Plate No.9).

(b) Area covered :

At the end of the plan period about 0.50 acres area will be covered by overburden and waste generated during the period. (c) Environmental safeguards for such disposal

The dumping will be done by retreat dump method with proper grading, compacting and leveling. Terrace would be provided along dump slopes to prevent undue erosion and maintain stability. The individual terrace heights will be limited to about 5m. Parapet wall and garland drain will be made at the toe of the dump to avoid wash offs.. Grass and shrub type of plants are proposed to be planted along the slopes to control erosion. 12 Mine drainage : (Give details of total make of water during dry and rainy season and its method of handling). The ground water table is 30m from the surface in rainy season and 39.36m in dry season. In the applied mining lease area the flow of water is very low. The working at the end of five years of the plan period will not intercept the water table. The water from pit will be pumped by 5HP diesel pump, if required. There is no river or nala flowing in the applied area. The natural gradient will drain out water from mine area in rainy season. Required rain water in the pit shall not discharge and shall be utilized for water spraying; plantation and other mining works. 13 Mineral processing :

(Give details of processing including sizing, sorting , generation of rejects /fines etc. ) In stone mining there is no need for mineral processing or mineral beneficiations to upgrade the ROM production. The mine out stone will be directly loaded by JCB to tippers or tractors and transported to the plant.
