June 15-July 2: Shows on Stage at the Millbrook Playhouse June 15-19: Smoke on the Mountain Smoke on the Mountain tells the story of the Sanders family and their Saturday Night Gospel concert at the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in 1938. It features over two dozen southern gospel and bluegrass songs. June 16-26: The Marvelous Wonderettes: Caps and Gowns. It's back to 1958, and it's time for the Wonderettes to graduate! Now-September 10: Packwood House Exhibit: Weddings Remembered Wedding dresses from 1787 to the 1950’s will be featured in the summer exhibit at Packwood House Museum showcasing the changing styles of American brides. Among the many styles to be represented will be a minimalist grey taffeta dress worn in an 1875 Quaker service, a drop waist flapper dress from the 1920s and a short white taffeta dress with crinoline and veil from the 1950s. The exhibit features more than a dozen wedding gowns along with era-appropriate accessories. The dresses are from the collections of three area

Now-October 30 Dale/Engle/Walker House Tours and Exhibits 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM The Union County Historical Society's Dale/Engle/Walker House exhibit “Milkin' It: Union County's Dairy History” features local dairy bottles, caps, milk boxes and advertising. The exhibit “Union County Collects” has a variety of interesting pieces from the society's collection including a beautiful set of hand-painted locally-made chairs. Tours of the house include the original hearth with period cooking implements, and the wagon shed with vintage farm tools and equipment. Enjoy an Architecture Tour of the house on June 19 with Roger Curran who will discuss the distinctive architecture of this historic limestone house. Built c. 1793, the house is a fine example of the symmetric construction of homes at the time. Admission is $5 for adults, $2 for children age 12 to 18, free for children under age 12. The Dale/Engle/Walker House will be open every Sunday afternoon from June through October. Now-November 1: Owens Farm Guided Tours Sustainable and humane farming is all over the news these days, and here's your chance to see how it's done. Owens Farm raises sheep, pigs, chickens, turkeys, horses and honeybees on 112 acres of pasture and woods. See the Border collie working, piglets at play, and happy hens. Now-November 27: Joseph Priestley House Museum Tours 1:00-4:00 PM In his laboratories in England and America Joseph Priestley discovered many gases (he called them airs) including oxygen, ammonia and carbon monoxide. This Unitarian minister was a friend of Benjamin Franklin, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson. Forced to flee England, Priestley lived in Pennsylvania from 1794 until his death in 1804. Priestley’s American home is protected as a state museum. Today, The Friends of Joseph Priestley House open the house and laboratory to the public on weekend afternoons from mid-March until the end of November. Tours are conducted at 1, 2 and 3 pm. Tours at other times can be arranged.
