On behalf Wof the Regatta’s five Managing Directors, Katherine Kirk, John Lambert, Chuck Pieper, Roger Borggaard, and myself, as well as CFO Tom Martin, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to Boston. Without the loyalty and support of all of the Regatta’s keen spectators and a record high 8,500 athletes, the event would not be the iconic autumn destina- tion that it has become. This year we have crews and scullers competing from 19 countries. In addition to our many friends from our northern border, Cana- da, we have representation from Australia, Brazil, China, Denmark, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Japan, the Netherlands, , New Zealand, Norway, Mexico, Pakistan, Spain and Turkey. Since the last event, our Race Com- mittee has met year-round to review the Regatta’s future direction and to develop strategies for implementing needed changes. Thanks to the hard work of Co- Race Directors Mary Farrell and Cindy Ryder-Matthes, several enhancements have been made to improve the experi- ence for rowers and spectators alike.
