Kimball and the No. 83 Levemir® FlexTouch® Chevrolet started in the middle of Row 5 for the 200-lap race. The field saw an early yellow on the first lap for a multi-car incident in Turn 1 involving teammate Sage Karam. With extensive clean-up, the race would not see a green lap until the restart on Lap 12. By Lap 27 Kimball had advanced three spots up to 11th until pitting for the No. 83’s first stop of the race on Lap 37. The No. 83 had advanced to eighth by Lap 46 and made two more passes for sixth by Lap 60. The second yellow of the day came on Lap 64 and NNCGR brought the No. 83 in for the second stop of the day on Lap 65 under yellow for fuel and tires. Over the next 10 laps, Kimball would move from sixth to the third position until pitting again on Lap 100 for fuel and tires.

FAST FACT During the tire building process, heat and pressure are applied to form the tire in a process known as vulcanizing. This transformation process is named after Vulcan, the Roman god of fire. Here in Birmingham, there is a 56-foot statue of Vulcan that overlooks downtown from Red Mountain. Confetti flies in Victory Lane following the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach as podium finishers (and Penske teammates) Juan Pablo Montoya and Helio Castroneves celebrate with winner Scott Dixon. Chris Owens/IMS Photo WHAT TO WATCH FOR THIS WEEKEND: DIXIE DOES IT: Scott Dixon (right) had just one top- five finish in eight starts at Long Beach entering last weekend’s race, but when the checkered flag flew on Sunday he came away a victor, earning his 36th overall race win and breaking a tie for fifth with Bobby Unser on the all-time Indy car wins list. Can Dixon carry the winning momentum from the West Coast to Barber Motorsports Park? PENSKE LOOKS TO CONTINUE BARBER DOMINATION: Team Penske has won three of the previous five Verizon IndyCar Series races at Barber Motorsports Park and team owner Roger Penske will look to add another trophy to his team’s collection during the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama with a strong four- car stable that has been dominant through the first three races of the season. HUNTER-REAY GOES FOR ALABAMA HAT TRICK: Andretti Autosport’s Ryan Hunter-Reay is the only driver to keep Team Penske out of victory lane at Barber Motorsports Park with his back-to-back wins at the track in 2013 and 2014.

FAST FACT The highest recorded temperature in the U.S. was 134° F (56.7° C) in Death Valley, Calif., on July 10, 1913. The highest recorded track temperature during an Indy car race was 137° F (58.3° C) on July 7, 2013 at Pocono Raceway. Graham Rahal raises his fist in celebration after taking the checkered flag at his home track of Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, putting him within nine points of championship frontrunner Juan Pablo Montoya. John Cote/IMS Photo WHAT TO WATCH FOR THIS WEEKEND: MONTOYA LOOKS TO TIGHTEN GRASP ON LEAD: With wins at St. Petersburg and the Indianapolis 500, Juan Pablo Montoya remains atop the Verizon IndyCar Series point standings. The Colombian, who has won four of his previous 10 500-mile races, leads Graham Rahal by nine points and Scott Dixon, Helio Castroneves and Will Power are within striking distance. Can Montoya repeat at Pocono and strengthen his hold on the series championship lead? ANDRETTI SEEKS BREAKTHROUGH WIN AT HOME TRACK: Marco Andretti will compete in a virtual hometown race at Pocono. Andretti can lean on family ties for some advice as Pocono is one of two tracks where all three generations of racing’s most famous family have had success. Andretti’s grandfather, open- wheel great Mario Andretti, won the 1986 race, while his father Michael won pole for the race in 1986. Marco claimed the pole for the race in 2013. KARAM RACES AT HOME: Like the Andretti family, Sage Karam hails from nearby Nazareth, Pa., and will be racing in front of friends and family.
