Muhammad Ali Blvd., Ste. 200 Louisville, KY 40202 (502) 821-1978(c) [email protected] Professional Experience University of Louisville Ackerson Law Clinic Brandeis School of Law Professor (Tenure/Term) and Director, 2009 – present • Domestic Violence Clinic - Providing legal instruction to 3rd year law students in a law firm setting enabling them to represent over 100 low-income survivors of domestic violence per semester in both Jefferson County Family and District Courts. • Mediation Clinic – Supervising law students while they mediate low income, pro-se litigants referred directly from Jefferson County Family Court Judges. The students are trained through a state certified 40-hour training program. • International Service Learning Program (ISLP) – Traveling and leading law school students to teach international high school students about healthy relationships focusing on violence, bullying and self-care. ISLP countries include the Philippines, Croatia and Belize. Guardian ad Litem (GAL) Jefferson County Family Court Division 2009 - present. Representing abused and neglected children in Family Court on the Dependency, Neglect and Abuse (DNA) dockets. Office of the Jefferson County Attorney Assistant County Attorney, 2001- 2009 Prosecuted domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse cases in Jefferson County District Court. Proven 96.5% conviction rate. Handled large daily caseload in an emotionally charged atmosphere. Provided support to survivors, children and families in need. Legal Aid Society Associate Director, Managing Attorney, Staff Attorney 1992 - 2001 Represented low-income citizens in civil matters involving government benefits, family, housing and consumer law. Rapidly ascended into a leadership position within organization. Started as a staff attorney, (rural unit) transferred to the family law unit as Managing Attorney (urban unit) and ultimately became the Associate Director of the entire Legal Aid Society office. Managed 75 employees including attorneys, paralegals and legal secretaries. Shared responsibility for annual fundraising and grant writing. The Holden School Teacher in the Boston Public School system 1985 – 1990 Taught in an alternative high school for high school students referred directly from the court system. Subject areas were math and science with an emphasis on behavior management.
