Description: Small Arms Ammunition consists of a family of 9mm ammunition used in the M9 Service Pistol and MP5 Submachine gun; 5.56mm ammunition (single) used in the M16 Service Rifle, M4 Carbine and the M27 Infantry Automatic Rifle (IAR) and (linked) used in the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW); 7.62mm ammunition (single) used in the M40 and M110 Sniper Rifles and (linked) used in the M240B Machine Gun, 12 gauge used in the Remington 870, M1014 Joint Service Combat Shotgun and the Mossberg 590 Shotguns, Caliber .45 used in M45 Close Quarter Battle Pistol (CQBP) and Caliber .50 ammunition (single) used in the M82 .50 caliber Sniper Rifle and (linked) used in the M2 Browning Machine Gun. Small arms ammunition in general is described as a cartridge or a family of cartridges intended to be used in various types of crew-served/mounted weapons, hand-held pistols, or shoulder fired rifles, ranging from .22 caliber to .50 caliber weapons. A small arms cartridge is an assembly consisting of a cartridge case, a primer, a quantity of propellant, and a bullet.

Justification: The funds in FY18 and out have been realigned to BLI 1350.
