    INTERNATIONAL MILITARY CARTRIDGE RIFLES AND BAYONETS The following table lists the most common international military rifles, their chambering, along with the most common bayonet types used with each. This list is not exhaustive, but is intended as a quick reference that covers the types most commonly encountered by today’s collectors. A Note Regarding Nomenclature: The blade configuration is listed, in parentheses, following the type. There is no precise dividing line between what blade length constitutes a knife bayonet vs. a sword bayonet. Blades 10-inches or shorter are typically considered knife bayonets. Blades over 12-inches are typically considered sword bayonets. Within the 10-12 inch range, terms are not consistently applied. For purposes of this chart, I have designated any blade over 12 inches as a sword bayonet. McNair Scholars Journal Portland State University 1 About the Program The Portland State University (PSU) Ronald E. McNair Scholars Program at Portland State University works with motivated and talented undergraduates who want to pursue PhDs. It introduces juniors and seniors who are first-generation and low income, and/or members of under-represented groups to academic research and to effective strategies for getting into and graduating from PhD programs. The McNair Scholars Program has academic-year activities and a full-time summer research internship. Scholars take academic and skills-building seminars and workshops during the year, and each scholar works closely with a faculty mentor on original research in the summer. Scholars present their research findings at the McNair Summer Symposium and at other conferences, and are encouraged to publish their papers in the McNair Journal and other scholarly publications.

(Stoltenberg II Government) 1 Introduction and summary In this white paper, the Government provides information on the Norwegian export control system for weapons, ammunition and other military materiel1 and dual-use goods2. The white paper lists actual exports in 2007 of defence materiel on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ List I3, and of appurtenant technology. List I contains both Category A materiel, i.e. weapons and ammunition and other materiel that could affect the military balance of power beyond the immediate vicinity, and Category B materiel, i.e. other equipment specially developed or modified for military use. The total value of exports in 2007 was approximately NOK 3.6 billion. Sales of goods accounted for about NOK 3.2 billion of this, services for about NOK 308 million and repair work for owners in other countries for about NOK 130 million. Category A materiel accounted for just over NOK 2 billion and Category B materiel for about NOK 1.2 billion. By way of comparison, the total value of exports in 2006 was about NOK 3.5 billion. In 2007, 92% by value of exports of Category A materiel and 84% by value of exports of Category B materiel went to NATO countries and to Sweden and Finland. The total value of exports of Category B materiel dropped markedly, by almost 22% from 2006, while exports of Category A materiel rose in value by about 45%.
