IBM Global Services Year 2000 Responsibilities for Network Services Services Announcement 698-061, Dated September 22, 1998

IBM Global Services announces changes to the terms of its customer agreements for network services to explicitly address IBM′s Year 2000 responsibilities. All existing customers who obtain network services from IBM under agreements which allow IBM to unilaterally implement a change to a service′s terms or description are affected by this announcement. This includes agreements such as IBM standard agreements, custom solution supplements, statements of work or similar agreements describing IBM network services. All such agreements are amended as of the date of this announcement to include a new section entitled “IBM′s Year 2000 Responsibilities,” which describes the scope of IBM′s Year 2000 obligations with respect to network services. The amendment will become effective after the applicable notice period set forth in the customer′s agreement. In most cases, this notice period will be three months from the date of this announcement.

Replacement Program Information: The withdrawn programs are replaced by IBM DFS Version 2.2 for AIX (5630-A43), a program offered by IBM and Transarc Corporation, an IBM subsidiary. For details, refer to Software Announcement 298-339, dated September 22, 1998. Upgrade Protection Customers: IBM DFS Version 2.2 for AIX (5630-A43) supersedes the programs withdrawn by this announcement. Customers who purchased upgrade protection for the IBM DFS Starter Kit, Version 2.2, (5765-D12) are eligible to receive IBM DFS Version 2.2 for AIX (5630-A43), since it has additional function.
