Game 2: After not scoring in back-to-back games spanning three days, the Fireflies jumped out Pitching/Defensive Statistics: W-L: 3-2 quickly in the second game of the twin bill. Herard Gonzalez and Darryl Collins jumped out of the gate with back- ERA: 2.18 to-back base knocks to start the game before Maikel Garcia popped a sacrifice fly to center to plate Gonzalez. Later, Quality Starts: 0 Omar Hernandez slapped one up the middle to score Collins and put Columbia in front 2-0 before Myrtle Beach could IP: 41.1 step up to the dish. The Pelicans countered with a pair in the bottom of the first to tie the game, but the Fireflies bats H: 24 supported Ben Hernandez in the third when Juan Carlos Negret gapped a double to left to score Maikel Garcia and R: 12 ER: 10 then Omar Hernandez legged out a three-bagger to plate Negret and push the Fireflies in front 4-2. A primary goal of the Play Ball Summer Initiative is to reach kids who don’t normally play baseball. Building on the success of previous years, this year - over 255 mayors pledged to host Play Ball events in cities. Mayors were encouraged to engage youth, citizens, families, and city departments to organize community Play Ball events.
