From Our Pastor Dear Brothers and Sisters, St. John reminds us today that in this is love: not that we have loved God, but that He first loved us, and sent His Son as expiation for our sins. How often do we try to “measure up” or prove ourselves before the Lord? We want to demonstrate that we are loveable before Him because of things that we have done or how faithful we have been to Him. Yet, His love for us actually comes before that His love is one that chooses us, even though we have done nothing to earn or merit it. What a mystery this is! This week, let’s ask the Lord for a deeper knowledge and experience of His love for us, that we might be more firmly rooted in the truth of who He has created us to be. Diaconate Ordination This Saturday morning is the ordination to the Diaconate for several men in Lansing. There will be two men ordained transitional deacons, who will, Godwilling, be ordained priests next year, along with five men ordained as permanent deacons. Please, pray for them as they offer their lives in service to the Lord. Anniversary Celebration Mark your calendars for the Solemnity of the Birth of St. John the Baptist, June 24! We are looking to celebrate our parish’s 175th anniversary, which was missed last year, due to the current situation, along with being back at Mass. We will keep you updated with details. In Christ, Fr. Dan
