He leaves behind his loving wife of 57 years, Gladys Chambers Lee, of Shelby ville; Children: DeAnn (David) Idso, Shelbyville, TN, Teresa (Steven) Gray, Kailua-Kona, HI, Jim (Debbie) Lee, Nashville, TN, Danny Lee (Robbie Main), Beech Island, SC. Sister Alda Nordby, Sister-in-Law Pat Lee; Grandchildren: Jerrod (Jessica) Kallberg, Kristina Barrett (Nader Girgiss), Greta (Chad) Gerloff, Anna Lee, Adrianne Lee, Amelia Gray, Amber (Primm) (Billy) Brown, Terry Primm Jr. Great Grandchildren: Jesse Dakota Lee, Tyler Barrett, Garrett Kallberg, Dylan Kallberg, Tanner Kallberg, Bailee Gerloff, Wesley Lee, Hunter Brown, Isaac Popp, Catelin Popp and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Marjorie and Ardis, and brother, Oakley.

From an early age Arty farmed and ranched the family homestead in the White Earth, North Dakota area with his brother Oakley and nephew Mike. It was common knowledge that the kitchen of Arty and Gladys was always open and the coffee was always on for the neighbors who often gathered on rainy days to discuss farming, cattle and weather.

He served on the council of Cottonwood Lutheran Church and was later a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Powers Lake, North Dakota. Arty was a board member for Sorkness Township and a member of the North Dakota Stockman's Association. The "Lee Ranch" was well known throughout North Dakota and Montana for breeding and raising Grand Champion Herford cattle. As a rancher, he often said "there ain't nothing I can't do" and usually proved it. He could repair a combine, fix a fence or a leaky faucet, and was a pretty fair carpenter as well. He was always ready and willing to help a neighbor or a friend any time of the day or night.

In 1996 Arty and Gladys retired to Kailua-Kona, Hawaii near their daughter and son-in-law, Teresa & Steven Gray, to recuperate from his open heart surgery. It was there that he earned his first "real" paycheck when he went to work as the fix-it guy at Da Kine Discount Store. He found he enjoyed helping and visiting with the customers, many who became good friends. While in Hawaii they were members of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.

In 1997 his kidneys failed and he spent the next 14 years on dialysis.

In 2004 they moved back to the mainland and settled in Shelbyville, TN where he loved puttering in the wood shop and helping remodel houses with his daughter and son-in-law, DeAnn and Dave Idso.
