CAPTAIN BARKY Panthers Captain Aleksander Barkov has registered 13 points (5-8-13) over his last nine games. Barkov is one game-winning goal shy of passing Pavel Bure (23) for sole possession of second on the franchise game-winning goals list. The 23-year old native of Tampere, Finland ranks second in the NHL in takeaways (58), while his 23:12 TOI per game average ranks him first in the NHL among forwards and leads the Panthers. He has drawn a league-leading 26 minor penalties, while taking only one 2-minute minor on Dec. 22 at DET. He owns a 53.9 faceoff win percentage, while winning 61.7% of his faceoffs on the power play and enters tonight's game ranked second on Florida in points (41). All-time in the shootout, Barkov ranks third in NHL history among players who have had at least 35 shootout attempts (21/40 - 52.5%).

IRON ALL-STAR On January 2, Keith Yandle was named to the 2019 NHL All-Star Game roster. It is his third career NHL All-Star appearance, first with Florida. Yandle is the NHL's active iron man leader, having played in 754 consecutive NHL regular season games. His active consecutive games played streak is the sixth-longest in NHL history. Yandle currently leads all Panthers defensemen in points (33) and assists (27), while his 22 power-play points on the season ranks fifth in the NHL and first among all defensemen. Since 2008-09, Yandle has posted 216 power-play points, the most among NHL defensemen in that span. His assist on Jan. 3 at BUF, 111st assist as a Panther, passed Dmitry Kulikov (110) for sole possession of fourth in assists among defensemen in franchise history. He is one point away from becoming only the 67th defenseman in NHL history to reach 500 career points and the 13th U.S.-born blueliner to do so.

WE HAVE LIFT HOFF Mike Hoffman enters tonight’s game as Florida’s goals leader (19) and power-play goals leader (10). He has recorded 14 points (7-7- 14) over his last 15 games. Hoffman is three power-play goals shy of matching his single-season career-high (13, 2016-17). Hoffman is one goal shy of his 20th goal of the season and can become the fastest first-year Panther to reach 20 goals in a season, surpassing Scott Mellanby who notched his 20th goal scored in his 45th team game of the season in 1993-94 (credit: NHLStats). The 28-year old native of Waterloo, Ontario, leads Florida with 132 shots on goal, averaging a team-best 3.38 shots per game. His franchise record 17- game point streak from Oct. 13 - Nov. 21 (10-10-20) stands as the longest individual point streak registered in the NHL this season.

LU CAN DO IT Panthers goaltender Roberto Luongo enters today's contest six wins away from passing Ed Belfour for sole possession of third all- time in goaltending wins. Among Russian-born NHLers this season, the 29-year old native of Chelyabinsk, Russia, stands at third in goals. Since returning to the NHL from the KHL in the 2017-18 season, Dadonov has scored a team-best 45 goals, 33 even-strength goals and nine game-winning goals. Over that span, Dadonov has posted 100 points.

POWER UP Over their last 30 games (since Nov. 1), the Panthers own a 33.0% (34-103) power-play success rate, ranking them first in the NHL. Over the 30-game span, Keith Yandle has registered 20 power-play points, good for second in the NHL, first among defensemen. FRANK THE TANK Frank Vatrano scored his career-best 11th goal of the season on Jan. 3 at BUF, surpassing his previous single-season career-high of 10 goals in 2016-17. The 24-year-old native of East Longmeadow, Mass., has posted six points (3-3-6), logged 23 shots and registered 16 hits over his last eight games. BLUE JACKETS NOTES CBJ AT 40 The Jackets, who are 7-2-1 in the last 10 games, have kicked off the season with 23 wins and 26 games of picking up points in their first 40 contests to sit in third place in the Metropolitan Division at 23-14-3 (49 points). The 23 wins and 49 points in the first 40 games is the second-best start in club history, trailing only the 28 wins and 60 points recorded to start the 2016-17 campaign (28-8-4).

WINNING WAYS The Blue Jackets finished December with an 8-5-1 record, marking the first time in franchise history they have posted a winning record in each of the first three months of a campaign (6-5-0 in Oct. and 9-3-2 in Nov. With Monday’s victory they tied the franchise record for the most wins in a calendar year (2016 and 2017) and posted the second highest point percentage with a 46-2-7 record and .611 point pct. It trails only the .647 point pct. recorded in 2016 (46-23-9). TWO AWAY Head coach John Tortorella sits two wins shy of becoming the 19th coach in NHL history (sixth active) to post 600 career victories behind the bench. The Boston native, who has won two Jack Adams Awards as the league’s Coach of the Year and won the Stanley Cup in 2004 with Tampa Bay, ranks first all-time among U.S. born coaches in NHL wins, posting a 598-476-141 record over 18 seasons. He is the Jackets’ all-time winningest coach at 152-101-26 and is six games from passing Ken Hitchcock (284) for the most games behind the Blue Jackets’ bench in club history.

STREAKALICIOUS Zach Werenski tallied an assist last night to extend his point streak to six-straight contests, a new career-long stretch (4-3-7). Fellow defenseman Seth Jones also extended his assist/point streak to four games, tying his career long assist streak (third time; 0-4-4). Artemi Panarin scored his 13th goal of the season last night, giving him 4-6-10 with three multi-point outings over a season-best six- straight contests.

ON THE FARM The AHL’s currently sit third in the North Division with a 17-11-4-1 record after a 4-3 shootout loss to Grand Rapids last Saturday.
