Mastery Charter’s mission is to ensure that all students learn the academic and personal skills they need to succeed in higher education, compete in the global economy, and pursue their dreams.

GRADE POINT AVERAGE The Mastery Charter GPA quantifies overall student achievement QUARTILE GPA RANGE and is calculated based on a 4.0 scale. Summer school courses TOP 4.16 – 3.4 are pass/fail and are weighted on a 3.0 scale. All courses receiving SECOND 3.39 – 3.13 a cumulative semester grade below 76% do not earn credit and must be recovered in summer school or repeated the following THIRD 3.10 – 2.67 academic year. FOURTH 2.66 – 1.19 The class of 2015 has 106 students. Students in the senior class are not ranked in accordance with school policy.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS In order to receive a high school diploma from a Mastery Charter school, all students must: • Complete and pass all courses registered from the start of enrollment to senior year, or retake said courses until a passing grade is earned • Receive a score of proficient or advanced on the Literature and Algebra Keystone and/or an 18 or higher on the math and reading portions of the ACT or an equivalent test • Complete a professional internship • Complete a Mastery created Senior Project demonstrating the student’s ability to work independently 1 COLLEGE ADMISSION PROFILE 2014-2015

THE SCHOOL Mastery Charter School – Pickett Campus is a high-performing, college-preparatory turnaround school serving students in Northwest Philadelphia. The school opened its doors as a Mastery public charter school in 2007 and currently has an enrollment total of 830 students in grades 6 through 12 . The school enrolls 90% of its students from two low-income neighborhood elementary schools and serves as the local high school in Germantown. Pickett has been recognized by President Obama for its remarkable turnaround since 2007 and is now ranked in the top quartile by performance of all 80 public and public charter high schools in Philadelphia. Eighty-four (84) percent of our student body is classified as economically disadvantaged (qualifying for the Free/Reduced Lunch program) and twenty-three (23) percent receive Special Education services. Ninety-nine (99) percent of our students come from African-American ethnic backgrounds.
