Capital Campaign 15 Mission Statement

Orlando City Youth Soccer Club (OCYS) is committed to providing opportunity for all and to enhancing the development of players, coaches, referees, parents, staff and volunteers. OCYS takes great responsibility in being a leader in as a soccer club that offers programming for all levels and ages by providing quality coaching and training in a positive-and-safe environment.

It is the mission of OCYS to develop Seminole Soccer Complex to be a premium facility in the state of Florida. With a state-of-the-art facility, the club will have the ability to train youth soccer players to reach their full potential. Overview

OCYS (formerly known as Seminole Soccer Club, Inc.) is a full service soccer club that offers programs for all levels of play — from beginner to national-and-recreational to competitive programs. The club has been a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit for nearly 40 years and today serves approximately 1800 players ages 4-19. OCYS is affiliated with Orlando City Soccer Club and NWSL and is the only club in Florida affiliated with a professional MLS team. OCYS is also affiliated with ECNL, one of the highest levels of youth soccer for ages 14 to 19. The majority of coaching staff has achieved higher level coaching credentials, such as US Soccer A, B licenses and UEFA Pro and A licenses, which lends to OCYS’s core value of coaching development. After playing with OCYS in their youth, many player(s) have graduated to the MLS professional league and US National Men’s team.

OCYS operates a full soccer complex consisting of eleven fields and 40 acres, and has 100% ownership of the facility and land. Little Lions

Little Lions is the first step in the Orlando City pyramid and an introduction to the Beautiful Game. The program, serving children ages 4-8, focuses on teaching the basics of soccer as well as age-appropriate physical motor development skills, in a fun and safe environment. Little Lions is an introduction to the Orlando City way! OCYS coaches are led by professionals and follow the Orlando City curriculum. The program is also an introduction into the Orlando City Academy program for players aged 8-18.

With extensive resources and player development expertise, the goals are to provide programs that help engage children in physical activity and use soccer to teach life skills, encourage the values of teamwork and promote discipline, confidence and self-esteem.

The program’s mission is to bring the game to communities in and around the Orlando area. These programs run across five sites: ● East Orlando (servicing UCF, Baldwin park, Lake Underhill, Azalea Park and east Orlando areas) ● Seminole Soccer Complex (servicing Sanford, Lake Mary, Heathrow, Altamonte & Longwood) ● Winter Park (servicing Winter Park, Baldwin Park and Maitland) ● College Park (servicing College Park) ● Winter Springs/Casselberry (servicing Winter Springs, Casselberry and Oviedo). Community Programs (Recreational)

The Junior & Developmental Lions Program, offered to children ages 9-14, is perfect for players graduating from Little Lions or beginning their journey into soccer. The program curriculum, along with a group of licensed and volunteer coaches, builds an environment that promotes learning, physical activity, skill acquisition, and fun. The Junior & Developmental Lions Program is a team-centered program designed to offer children the opportunity to play soccer in a recreational environment -- emphasizing fun over competition. Licensed coaches teach basic techniques and age-appropriate movement skills focusing on body control, agility, balance, and coordination. The program was set up to offer a low cost program for the player/parent that does not want to travel.

OCYS encourages volunteer coaches to get involved in its Community Programs, so that they can develop as coaches under the direction of the Program Director. It is also a great place to start young referees as they can gain experience before transitioning to Academy games. Many players and coaches seeking to take their game to the next level have been able to advance and transition smoothly from the OCYS Recreational Program to Academy Programs.

There are currently two sites, Sanford (home) and East Orlando, where OCYS recreational programs operate. The goal is to increase the number of children participating in this program in these geographical areas. Academy Program

The OCYS Academy is Florida's leading program for developing soccer players from ages 8-18. OCYS offers players a competitive pathway to collegiate-and-professional teams through its affiliation with Orlando City SC. The Academy’s mission is to develop players under the guidance of Technical Director Paul Shaw and the Orlando City SC curriculum. The curriculum is a methodical-and-progressive pedagogical approach to teaching the game. Players learn technical, tactical, psychological, and physical elements of the game in an age appropriate way. This training prepares them for a future in adult, collegiate, or professional leagues.

Orlando City Youth offers team levels from local league level (Greater Central Florida League AKA GCF) to State Level (US Club and Florida State Premier League) to National League Level. The Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) program is a national level league for both Boys and Girls. For those with ambition to play collegiately, the ECNL gives players exposure to College coaches through its Showcases. Orlando City Youth Soccer hosts the ECNL Winter Showcase annually with over 300 College coaches in attendance.

In 2012 Orlando City SC and OCYS joined together to develop a full-service club and provide a pathway to professional teams. The Academy’s purpose is to push every player to reach their individual goals -- whether that is continuing to enjoy the game and be a lifelong soccer fan, to play in college, or to play professionally. OCYS has created a direct pathway for the player with many examples over the last 8 years. Vision

OCYS is continuing to develop the best possible environment for all its families -- developing programs in which the players can self-actualize. OCYS aims to operate a first-class complex where its membership as well as the local community can thrive. With an updated facility, OCYS can host a variety sporting and community events at Seminole Complex. Capital Campaign

The Need

Improving all the fields at the complex will assist in providing our youth players with the best possible experience and accelerate their development.

Lighted fields will allow for players to remain on our complex for practice during the winter months when daylight is limited. It will also financially reduce rental expenses for off-site fields.

A state-of-the-art stadium field would highlight our players in a professional setting and would allow the club to host additional events that would enable our youth players to experience higher level soccer.

Office space is not available as should be required by staffand coaches. Restrooms and locker room facilities are very outdated and not the quality required for a premier youth organization such as Orlando City Youth Soccer. Who Benefits

Our present and future youth players will benefit from the capital improvements. All youth players in Central Florida that participate in seasonal-and-tournament play at the Seminole Complex will benefit. Better facilities and coaching will produce better players.

Better facilities will attract Professional/College teams for winter training camps at Seminole. Also turf/grass and facilities with meeting rooms and locker rooms will mean that coaching licenses will be able to be held at the complex. Timeline

I have been extremely lucky to have played and coached soccer all over the world, at some of the best clubs in the world. It is my desire to create a club that is inclusive of everyone. From the boy or girl that just wants to have fun playing the game they love to the player that wants to play college or even professional soccer. Also where our coaches can learn and challenge themselves everyday. We want to help in their development. We want to create a state of the art complex that our players, families and staff can be proud to call their own. When visitors attend Seminole, I want them to not only be blown away by the complex but also go away having been treated warmly and professionally.

It has been my pleasure to serve as Chairman of Orlando City Youth Soccer Board of Directors since 2018. I admire the work that the leadership at Orlando City Youth Soccer has done to promote youth soccer opportunities in our community over the years and am excited the club can be a part of this development campaign. Through this campaign, we will be able to support the elite development of our players and coaches. I am excited to be involved in this project to grow the Club so we can continue our mission of impacting youth soccer in a positive way.

-Caesar Lopez – Board President, Orlando

City Youth Soccer Our Testimonials.

Having an integrated youth to professional structure and pathway is essential to the growth of women’s soccer. Not only does this model allow for synergies among the club and between the teams in connection with training and game preparation and execution, it also creates a learning environment for young players to understand the importance and impact of behaviors off the field that distinguish elite professional athletes. Further, the integrated pathway develops a homegrown pipeline of players that positions the professional first team for consistent and longstanding achievements.

As the Orlando Pride build for the future, the youth club integration is a vital component to establish and maintain long-term success.

- – EVP Soccer Operations,

Orlando Pride Our Testimonials.

When I joined Orlando City in 2012 we used Seminole Soccer Complex as our training facility and were very successful as a club in that period. In 2014, I began my journey as a coach when I joined the OCYS staff. For two years I coached almost daily at Seminole and learnt a great deal coaching a couple of youth teams, which proved to be a great learning curve for me. I will always be thankful for the opportunities OCYS gave me as a start up coach and I look forward to seeing the club continue to develop players and staff and give everyone a pathway.

-Anthony Pulis – Assistant Coach at Inter Miami As a head coach, it is not only important to bring success to the club you’re working with but it is equally essential to leave a lasting legacy. Having the youth club in Orlando is significantly important in the continuing growth of women’s soccer. There is a unique passion and commitment to soccer in Florida and the role the academy plays will naturally evolve that wonderful energy into the next generation of potential World champions.

Orlando Pride’s values are designed around connecting with its community and creating a family that will overcome any obstacle together. It is therefore essential from my perspective that like our Captain (a proud native Floridian) we continue to grow the connection to Orlando and Florida’s young female players. With the aim for them to develop the strong connections a family brings and develop towards playing for their team.
