Big12Sports.com t @Big12Conference 13 Big 12 Television Distribution

The Big 12 Conference maintains long-term television agreements to ensure the greatest exposure for its men’s basketball programs. Included below is a breakdown of these rights and how they affect which games are televised, and when they are shown.

ESPN has the rights to 100-105 games, plus all games of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Men’s Basketball Championship.

Of those contests:

 Forty-three games (minimum of 30 Conference games) will be televised on either ESPN or ESPN2  Guaranteed national telecasts on Monday, Wednesday and Saturdays during Conference play  Ability to sublicense 20 additional games to a national over-the-air or cable outlet  Up to 40 games per year on ESPNU and six additional games on ESPN3  Remaining selected games on Big 12 Network

Appearance Requirements There are no appearance requirements (minimums or maximums) for games on the various ESPN platforms.

Game Times/Exclusive Windows As opposed to some previous seasons, there are only a few exclusive windows in men’s basketball. Distribution of Institutional (Local) Package Games  Institutional packages are restricted from televising games during Big ESPN controls the national/regional distribution of games and the contract may limit Monday telecast windows and Saturday prime times windows when a Big the geographical reach of institutional (third-tier or local) package games to the 12 school is hosting College Game Day. There are fully protected two- state(s) of the participating team(s). hour windows. The guidelines for the distribution of these games include the following.

 Telecasts may be distributed only within the states (and overlapping DMAs) of the two participating teams, except when a game is distributed via a member institution branded oulet  At its option, institutions may present the telecasts to ESPN for placement on ESPN Full Court  Unselected games produced as part of the local package may be distributed by school websites

Revenue Distribution Process Basketball television revenue is divided equally among all member institutions. Each member retains the revenue it receives for their local packages (whether or not they are with ABC/ESPN, FOX or another entity).

Whether on the field, within the community or in the classroom, those who make up the Big 12 - its administrators, coaches, game officials and student-athletes - support the highest ideals in sportsmanship. At the heart of sportsmanship is the commitment of the institutions towards respect for the opposition and those officiating contests in the 23 sports sponsored by the Big 12. It is with a sense of fair play that a true sporting demeanor in the spirit of intercollegiate competition can be created and maintained with a total regard for the welfare of student-athletes, coaches, support personnel and spectators. Sportsmanship on the field of play is governed by Conference rules and guidelines, as well as those established under the NCAA and amateur organizations. It is the responsibility of game officials and administrators to see to strict adherence to these guidelines. The behavior of spectators is managed by event personnel, who are encouraged to deal with interference or abuse of appropriate sporting behavior in the strictest of methods. The Big 12 Conference and its member institutions appreciate the support of the majority of fans who wish to create an atmosphere of competition that allows the participants to showcase the game and their respective skills.
