25Romsey to Salisbury Via Eastleigh and Southampton Central Romsey to Salisbury via Eastleigh and 25 Southampton Central Salisbury Dean Chandler’s Ford Mottisfont & Dunbridge Southampton Airport Eastleigh Parkway Swaythling St Denys Romsey Southampton Millbrook Central Redbridge Train times 16 May to 11 September 2021 May 2021 DL covers.indd 25 19/07/2021 09:52:48 Your timetable This timetable shows services between Romsey, Chandler’s Ford, Eastleigh, Southampton Airport Parkway, Swaythling, St Denys, Southampton Central, Millbrook, Redbridge, Romsey, Mottisfont & Dunbridge, Dean and Salisbury. Buy a ticket before you board You need to buy a valid ticket before you get on your train. We know that most of our passengers do this before travelling, and we have a duty to those passengers to make sure no-one travels without paying. This is why we run a penalty fares scheme across most of our network. If you travel without a valid ticket to or from a station within the penalty fares area, you may have to pay a penalty fare of £20 or twice the single fare to the next station your train stops at (whichever is higher). You will also have to buy a ticket for the rest of your journey. We have a policy to, wherever possible, prosecute everyone who deliberately avoids paying. Travel with Confidence So that you can travel with confidence, we are: ventilating trains to refresh air, improving information about journeys and trains, and extensively cleaning trains and stations. In crowded spaces, wear a face covering out of respect to others. Please be considerate of other passengers and rail staff. Cycles on trains The services in this timetable have limited room for cycles and we have to apply some restrictions. Our services have space for up to two cycles per two carriage train. Please refer to Great Western Railway publicity for details of their cycle restrictions. We will carry folding cycles on any train, as long as they can be folded small enough to be carried safely in the luggage rack. Cycles are not allowed on buses that replace trains during engineering work. Changes to train times Network Rail need to do engineering work to maintain and improve the rail network. They do a lot of this work at weekends and during holiday periods, but they also need to do some work overnight during the week. If we need to close rail lines so Network Rail can carry out work, buses will replace train services. We may also have to alter train services over a wider area. Please check for any changes to train times before travelling at weekends, late in the evening or early in the morning. Look for the ‘Changes to train times’ posters at stations, or visit our website at southwesternrailway.com. No-smoking policy For the comfort of all our customers, smoking and using e-cigarettes is not allowed on any part of our trains or stations. You can smoke outside the station entrance or in our car parks. Automated Delay Repay We have introduced a new Automated Delay Repay (ADR) system that drastically cuts the time it takes to claim and receive compensation if your train is late. ADR works for all customers who have bought Advance tickets or a Touch Smartcard season ticket from our website. If you have a Touch Smartcard season ticket, you will need to touch in and out at the beginning and end of your journey, sign up for a Delay Repay account at delayrepay.southwesternrailway.com and select ‘Auto Delay Repay’. (The email addresses you use for ‘My Account’ and ‘Delay Repay’ must match.) To find out more about Automated Delay Repay, visit: southwesternrailway.com/contact-and-help/refunds-and- compensation/delay-repay/automated-delay-repay. • December 2020 Foreword from District Commander Chief Inspector Marcus Cator
December 2020 Foreword from District Commander Chief Inspector Marcus Cator Welcome to the December edition of the Policing Eastleigh partnership newsletter – it comes with a round-up of our work over the past few months and some of the plans for the future. This year has been extremely challenging for all, and policing has had its equal challenges. The impact of Covid-19 on us all has been significant across our communities and also impacted upon the types of incident and crimes we have been managing. Trying to get the balance right, to keep on top of those who insist on committing offences, whilst trying to support the public health focus of trying to manage the impact of a pandemic has been extraordinary. I can only applaud all keyworkers and all of those hard working members of society, who have had to try and keep pace on these challenging times. From schooling at home (I have a refreshed respect for those in education!), working from home and trying to keep our families safe, the challenges have had a significant impact on everyone’s welfare and mental health. Despite this, some good news in relation to new faces joining the team! Inspector Louise Hubble has recently joined the district, who comes with a wealth of knowledge and understanding of rural crime and 21 years’ experience of policing. Louise will be joining Hedge End Sector and supporting Sgt Stu Jackson and T/Sgt Ian Simpson’s teams. Alongside this, we have six new officers joining us under the latest recruitment campaigns from Hampshire Constabulary; two have started in November, two more join us in December and then two more in January.

  • THE CITIZENS POST WCFC V Eastleigh FC Saturday 28Th July 2018 Pre-Season Friendly
THE CITIZENS POST WCFC v Eastleigh FC Saturday 28th July 2018 Pre-Season Friendly Winchester City Football Club is a committee run members club and as such is an unincorporated association. THE CITIZENS POST TODAY’S VISITORS – EASTLEIGH FC CLUB HISTORY Playing home matches firstly on Southampton Common, and then at ‘Westfield’ in Swaythling, the new club were promoted into the Hampshire League in 1950 after two campaigns spent in the Southampton Senior League (West). Within another year, Athletic, (that appellation was dropped in 1973) had topped Division Three (West) and won the Hampshire Intermediate Cup. By 1956, Swaythling were playing in the 1st Division of the County league. They would return to that level in 1970 as champions of Division 2. In keeping with their early progress, the club moved to a new ground at Ten Acres in 1957 – which remains home to this day. The change to their current name was made in 1980, six years before Eastleigh F.C. became founder members of the Wessex League. The club settled at that level, until a distinguished period under the management of present Sutton United boss Paul Doswell which began in 2002/2003. Eastleigh were that season’s Wessex League Champions. Twelve months later, they finished 4th in the Southern Football League Division One East. The club were beneficiaries of the F.A.’s restructuring of the non-league pyramid, and were elevated to begin 2004/2005 in the Premier Division of the Isthmian League. On-pitch advancement was being matched off the field. A new stand was constructed in time for the Isthmian campaign, which the team finished with a run of 14 unbeaten matches.

  • The Priory of St. Denys
HANTS FIELD CLUB, 1895 PLATE I. GROSE, DELT., 1773. ST. DENY'S PRIORY, WEST FRONT. ,. •: - . 155 THE PRIORY OF ST. DENYS. BY A. H. SKELTON. The Priory of Saint Dionysius or Denys, near Southamp- ton, belonged to the Canons regular of the Order of St. Augustine, and was situated on the western bank of the river Itchen, about two miles north of the walls of Southamp- ton. The Prior and Canons were lords of the manors of Northam and Portswood, both within the liberties although outside the walls of the town. As the Canons were endowed with the chapelries of All Saints, Holy Rood, St. Lawrence, and St. Michael, Southampton, and were responsible for the services therein, they were possibly more immediately associated with the religious life of the town than the rector of St. Mary's, the mother church of Southampton, which then stood, surrounded by fields, amidst the traces of the deserted Saxon town of Hampton, from which the in- habitants had migrated in the eleventh century, and founded a new town around the King's castle, in a more defensible position, on the western shore, abutting on the river Test. The Prior and Convent of St. Denys were also holders of property in Southampton, and owing to this connection, both civil .and religious, the Priory, although comparatively a small foundation, has engaged the attention of topographers and local historians, among whom may ' be mentioned Grose, Warner, Duthy, Woodward, Wilksi and the Rev. J. Silvester Davies, who, in his " History of Southampton," gives many interesting details relating to this house, but for the purposes of this notice it will suffice briefly to summarise these authorities.
