Two of the most important events of last month are crucial to discuss in this editorial. Firstly, disturbing stories of mass graves of Indigenous children in Canada are bothersome to all human beings. Secondly, European Union passed a resolution calling on Sri Lanka to express serious concern over the human rights abuses and urging the European Union Council to consider targeted sanctions against senior Sri Lankan officials accused of war crimes. This is a FOR JUSTICE welcoming approach that all other nations should follow. Cowessess First Nation announced last month the discovery of hundreds Together, we can change society! of unmarked graves on the grounds of the former Marieval Indian Residential School in the Canadian prairie province of Saskatchewan, and Indigenous leaders say they will find more at other sites. Chief Cadmus Delorme of the Cowessess First Nation in Saskatchewan said they found at least 600 graves Mission after radar detected 751 “hits” in a field on the school grounds. Chief Bobby Cameron of the Federation of Sovereign Indian Nations said the discovery, With the view to providing a voice to expose acts of injustice against coupled with the recent discovery of the remains of 215 Indigenous children individuals or communities, whether they be unfair, discriminatory, illegal at the former Kamloops Indian Residential School in British Columbia, shows or unjust, “Voice for Justice” stands firm on the ground that there can be no “genocide” committed by Canada. freedom without justice. Your support is needed to achieve this. Together, The Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada determined in 2015 we can change society! more than 150,000 Indigenous children had been forced into residential schools. on June 22, Cameron said there are many burial sites like at Marieval and Kamloops, and searches will continue. Additionally, it assists in comprehending why Canada’s Parliament does not have a substantial number of female Members of Parliament (MPs). The paper also looks at the low number of women candidates in the 2015 election in comparison to the number of male candidates. I also study the contributing factors hindering the progress of parity. My initial hypothesis is that the lack of gender parity in the House of Commons is due to the political process, which includes the role of political parties, the electoral system, the lifestyle of MPs and the role of the media.
