About the 2006 Season: Central enters the 2006 Championship having finished in the top-three of all five tournaments it played this spring including first at the Dutch Desert Shootout (of seven schools) and the Loras Duhawk Spring Invitational (of 20 schools). The Dutch have a team stroke average of 301.57 this spring, led by four sub-300 rounds. Wartburg has three top-five finishes in as many tournaments including a tie for second at the Duhawk Spring Invitational. The Knights’ stroke average of 307.20, which includes three sub-300 rounds and a Conference-low round of 287, is second in the Conference.

Buena Vista enters the Championship with a 314.83 stroke average, third in the Conference and the Beavers have three top-10 and four top-15 finishes in four tournaments this spring including a third-place tie at the Wartburg Invitational. Luther is fourth in the IIAC with a 315.30 stroke average including the Conference’s second-best round of the spring, a 289 in the second round of the Wartburg Invitational.

Deminsky joins Hanson as the only Conference golfers with two sub- par rounds this spring, adding a 71 at the Duhawk Spring Invitational and is tied with teammate Andrew Petersen for the third- best overall stroke average (75.71). Kinseth’s 76.60 stroke average is sixth-best.

Central has half of the Conference’s top-10 individual stroke averages. Joining Deminsky and Peterson in the top-10 are Alvaro DeCosio (76.43), Cole Reiman (76.71) and Brett Meyer (77.14). Buena Vista’s Josh Reed and Coe’s Nolan Schmelzer each have a 78.33 stroke average in six and nine rounds, respectively.

Deminsky, Hanson and Simpson’s Eric Adams have Medalist honors to their credit this year. Deminsky finished first of 39 golfers at the Dutch Desert Shootout. Hanson won the 94-golfer Wartburg Invitational (76-67—143). Adams won the 74-golfer Simpson Invitational (72).

Weber became the first Loras golfer to win an individual Conference title since 1998 with rounds of 71-69-73-73, including the low round in each of the final three rounds. Simpson’s Mike Martin, the 2003 Medalist, finished second, one stroke ahead of Central’s Nick Grossman (297-298).

Top Returning Individuals: Six players totaling nine All-Conference honors (top-10 Conference finishers) return to their teams’ line-up this year including four from last year. Ten of the 2005 top-20 are back. Ault is looking to become a four-time All- Conference performer. Last year, he finished sixth with a 304 to go along with Medalist honors in 2004 and a seventh-place finish in 2003.
