XI MOSCOW INTERNATIONAL THEATRE FESTIVAL «YOUR CHANCE»

• The festival «Your Chance» takes place in Moscow, the capital of Russia, the heart of the world’s theatre art. • The festival «Your Chance» takes place in May, 2015 in one of the best theatrical centers in Russia – Theatre center «Na Strastnom» of the Theatre Union of the Russian Federation. The Center is equipped with the most up to date technical equipment (light and sound).

• The Festival is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Theatre Union of the Russian Federation, Moscow Department of Culture and by the foreign cultural and information centers of Moscow.

• The festival «Your Chance» presents the best student and postgraduate performances of the leading theatrical high schools from all over the world.

• The festival’s aim is to present the best degree and postgraduate performances, to find new stars in the theatre world, and to develop and encourage new techniques in the art of theatre.

• Over the course of the year the organizing committee of the Festival «Your Chance» is watching many degree and postgraduate performances from all over the world, with the best performances selected to take part in the festival.

• Festival « Your Chance » has removed geographical barriers and created an environment for the best and upcoming theatre experts to communicate. The festival will become a school of exchange of cultural experience between the Russian and foreign young actors and directors, on whom the destiny of the future world theatrical art depends.

• XI Festival of student and postgraduate performances «Your Chance» includes an original and special program which includes coffee-breaks, workshops, lectures, round tables, etc.

The Chairman of the Theatre Union of the Russian Federation, Alexander Kalyagin: The main purpose of the Festival «Your chance» is to give the students an opportunity to act to a wide audience. Now theatres are given names after someone. So let the Festival «Your Chance» gives its name after each participant.

The director of the Theatre center «Na Strastnom» of the Theatre Union of the Russian Federation, Michael Pushkin: Festival «Your chance» is the most exciting project on the Russian theatre scene. I hope that we are lighting the new stars in the world theatrical sky who tomorrow will become the next Piter Brook, Lev Dodin, Oleg Efremov etc. «Your chance» is the tomorrow of the theatre life, and the future of the world stage.

Chance-parties an evening club, where the participants (actors, directors, theatre critics, producers) and spectators do relax. Chance-parties are accompanied by the small performances where the participants of the festival show the other side of their talent (singing, dancing, making some humorous concert or series of sketches consisting of satire, impressions, put-ons etc.), something like a cabaret-show or revue-sketch comedy.

An exhibition of the young stage designers dedicated to the memory of Oleg Sheyntsis As part of the XI Moscow International festival of student and postdegree performances «Your Chance» an exhibition of the young stage designers, students and recent graduates of the Scenography Departments of Russian Academy of Theatre Arts (GITIS), Moscow Art Theatre School, Russian State Institute of Cinematography named after Sergey Gerasimov, College of the Year 1905 will be held. The exhibition dedicated to the memory of the famous stage designer Oleg Sheyntsis, who trained a lot of talented students, now working at the best theatres of Moscow. It was Oleg Sheyntsis who opened the first exhibition in the Theatre Center «Na Strastnom» on 2006. Since 2013 the exhibition moved to the «Boyars’ Chambers» of the Theatre Union of the Russian Federation, situated at Strastnoy boulevard, 10. This place, having an unusual architecture, design and spirit, with naked brick walls, low arches and winding walk-through rooms, shows the set design students’ works to advantage, creating a true spirit of theatre which reigns over the exhibition. During the closing ceremony of the festival «Your Chance» will be announced the name of the stage designer, whose work, according to the experts, will be found the best one in this year and the winner will get an award – 1000$.

Discussions – the discussion on the just seen performance starring the theatre critic and the director/actors of the performances. An opportunity to discuss the work with spectators.

Casting – the main casting-directors and producers visit everu performance during the festival. Among the recent participants of the festival “Your Chance” new young stars of theatre and movie: Nodar Siradze, Pavel Akimkin, Olga Sukhareva, Grigory Dobrigin… The last one won the “Silver Bear” at the Berlin Film Festival for the Best Role in the movie “How I Ended This Summer”. The assistant of Aleksey Popogrebsky (director) noticed Grigory Dobrigin at the festival “Your Chance”.

Our awards

In 2008 Festival «Your Chance» won the prize at the ROMATEATROFESTIVAL for the Best Student Theatre Festival.

In 2008 Festival «Your Chance» won the prize of the Newspaper «Moskovskij Komsomolets» for the Best Theatre Festival in Moscow.
