Darien has chosen to step down as the Prep Coach editor so that he will be able to spend more time with his wife, Mary, as she goes through rehabilitation following a very serious fall, in their home, in October. Darien began his service to the Coaches of Minnesota serving as a delegate for District 16 in the years prior to being named as the Executive Secretary of the Minnesota State High School Coaches Association in 1975. Darien succeeded Art Avis. At the same time Darien started his tenure as Executive Secretary, he also took over the duties as Editor for the Prep Coach. Darien continued in that position through his tenure as Executive Secretary and for the past 16 years after retirement.
