  • Addendum to School Places Strategy 2017-2022 – Explanation of the Differences Between Wiltshire Community Areas and Wiltshire School Planning Areas
Addendum to School Places Strategy 2017-2022 – Explanation of the differences between Wiltshire Community Areas and Wiltshire School Planning Areas This document should be read in conjunction with the School Places Strategy 2017 – 2022 and provides an explanation of the differences between the Wiltshire Community Areas served by the Area Boards and the School Planning Areas. The Strategy is primarily a school place planning tool which, by necessity, is written from the perspective of the School Planning Areas. A School Planning Area (SPA) is defined as the area(s) served by a Secondary School and therefore includes all primary schools in the towns and surrounding villages which feed into that secondary school. As these areas can differ from the community areas, this addendum is a reference tool to aid interested parties from the Community Area/Area Board to define which SPA includes the schools covered by their Community Area. It is therefore written from the Community Area standpoint. Amesbury The Amesbury Community Area and Area Board covers Amesbury town and surrounding parishes of Tilshead, Orcheston, Shrewton, Figheldean, Netheravon, Enford, Durrington (including Larkhill), Milston, Bulford, Cholderton, Wilsford & Lake, The Woodfords and Great Durnford. It encompasses the secondary schools The Stonehenge School in Amesbury and Avon Valley College in Durrington and includes primary schools which feed into secondary provision in the Community Areas of Durrington, Lavington and Salisbury. However, the School Planning Area (SPA) is based on the area(s) served by the Secondary Schools and covers schools in the towns and surrounding villages which feed into either The Stonehenge School in Amesbury or Avon Valley College in Durrington.

  • Putting Life Into Your Landscape” Summer 2017 AGM 2017
Putting Life into your Landscape” Summer 2017 Chairman’s Remarks Dear All Once again we are in the middle of summer, as regards coppicing products the trade is rather quiet, some hurdles and spars are going out but customers are holding back at the moment. Some shows and events are going on, we will see in late autumn for any results, I don’t think it will be that good. Re: Charcoal Events - Forest of Dean has taken place at the end of May, Alan Walters Charfest is in early August. We have just held a joint event with the Dorset Coppice Group in the Reading Room at Alderholt, attendance was not too bad and an evening of verse poetry and good food was enjoyed. P J was at the helm and it is hopeful that a return event can be held in the future. The colour picture is of me and my father Len Lane at Damerham Flower Show in June l975. The temperature that day was over 100 degrees, never been that hot before or after!! Note the banding in the hurdles, not made like that today. The black and white picture is me and my father again, in April l955 in Lopshill Pond Copse which is between Damerham and Lower Daggons on the Hampshire/ Dorset border near Alderholt. This copse was removed in the 1960’s. Notice the very long 12” wood cutting hooks – Ewell is the make and they were made between 1949 and 1951. Father had three and I still have two of them. Peter Lane Chariman AGM 2017 There was a rather disappointing turn out for the AGM with fewer than 20 members including the Committee.

  • Newton Tony CE VC Primary School
Newton Tony CE VC Primary School Admissions Arrangements 2018-2019 Policy agreed November 2017 Policy review September 2018 This policy applies solely to applications for places at Voluntary Controlled (VC) and Community (C) Primary, Infant and Junior Schools. Foundation (F), Voluntary Aided schools (VA) and Academies (A) are their own admissions authorities and the governing bodies are responsible for determining their own procedures and policies. Determined arrangements for the co-ordination of primary admissions are drafted with the determined co-ordinated admissions scheme 2018/19. The application round for entry into Reception 2018 and Junior Year 3 entry opens on 1 September 2017. The deadline date for applications to be received is midnight on 15 January 2018. The home address given for the child must be the address where the child is resident as of the deadline date. Designated Area A designated area is a discrete geographical zone served by a school. The address that determines a child’s designated area is the place where s/he is ordinarily resident with his/her parent(s) or legal guardian(s) for the majority of the school week. Most schools have a discrete designated area but some addresses fall within areas shared by two or more schools. Children living outside the county boundary are treated as if the children live within Wiltshire but outside the designated area for the school(s) in question. For admission criterion purposes, the address used for Bargees, will be the sorting office or main post office address, closest to the place of mooring as of the deadline date.

GREAT WISHFORD C of E (VA) PRIMARY SCHOOL West Street, Great Wishford, Salisbury, Wilts SP2 OPQ www.greatwishfordschool.co.uk “No challenge too big, no child too small.” The School Great Wishford Primary School is a Church of England Aided School. The school is situated in the delightful semi-rural setting in the attractive village of Great Wishford approximately 6 miles north west of Salisbury in the Wylye Valley. Great Wishford School has a long and interesting history and is one of the oldest working schools in Wiltshire. The original listed building, adjacent to the road, dates from 1722. A Victorian addition now forms the staff room and kitchenette. In 1961 the school was significantly enlarged by the addition of three classrooms, an entrance foyer and classroom facilities. In 1997 a conservatory was added which is called Woodpecker Classroom and has an outdoor classroom and enclosed garden attached to it. Additional building work in 2005 saw the addition of a fourth classroom and a new hall and re-designed Reception/Year 1 classroom and outdoor area. A new library and meeting room has also been developed to further improve the learning environment for our pupils and staff. The school grounds are extensive and have been developed over the years. They include a tarmac play area, a very large grassed area for sports and games, an Early Years enclosed garden with an all- weather surface and garden areas off all the lower ground floor classrooms. The wild area continues to develop with the inclusion of a ‘Chill out Zone’, a log creative play zone, a story-telling seating area and a trim trail.
