ND: two hungry teams Both teams need wins after rather slow start By JOECENTERS State News Sports Writer When MSU hosts Notre Dame Saturday in a 1:30 p.m. clash at Spartan Stadium, it will be the 44th time that the two football teams will have met. But this game will be far different than most of the meetings between the two schools. This contest will be between two tearhs that are fighting for its lives, which is unusual for both MSU and Notre Dame this early in the season. Both schools are 1-2 this season and the team that winds up on the short end of the score could find itself in a hole with no way to get out. The Irish lost their first two games of the season, a 3-0 setback to Missouri and a 28-14 defeat at the hands of Michigan, MSU's opponent next week in Ann Arbor. Last Saturday, Notre Dame finally got on the right track by beating Purdue 10-6. State News/Deborah J. An: It’s what D’Arcy wanted to call the old band. A: We had no choice. D: Yeah, the other band. We sorta had the name before and it just sorta stuck, but for no particular reason. No story, it just sounds badass. Yeah it’s a good name. W: Why, thank you. An: It’s pretty awesome. So who do you consider influences on the band? An: A lot of 80’s hardcore. W: I’m pretty into money, but I think I made that joke before when he was here for the MOLESTED YOUTH interview. Yeah you did, it’s old, retire it. Australia’s longest-running music video program is also, arguably, the most sustained such program globally (Bodey, 2012; Helper, 2012). Despite its longevity, there has been scarce scholarly analysis of rage, and of what has underpinned its unusual endurance; many music video programs have come and gone during the program’s long-held tenure. How has rage survived the vicissitudes of network programming – particularly within the capricious space of music video programming - and maintained its cultural place and role, for more than a quarter of a century? The significance of this research is that it explores rage’s unusual durability, examines the program’s unique elements, and answers three key research questions: What has been the history of rage as a program and a cultural entity? What has been the cultural significance of rage? How did rage create a shift within the music industry ecology of Australia? This thesis presents an insider’s account of rage, exploring it within its ABC TV and public broadcasting context.
