The Kimberley Woodger Dance Academy aims to provide a friendly atmosphere for children of all ages to learn different types of dance.We provide a wide range of classes for all ages and abilities. From Contemporary Dance, Creative Dance, Acro Dance, Musical Theatre, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Adult Classes and Ballet, we follow the syllabi of the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and the Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dance (CSTD) for Tap and Jazz.

We also offer students to opportunity to complete their Certificate 111 in Dance CUA30113. Nationally recognised qualifications.

Pupils are also prepared for examinations and awards and also have the opportunity to take part in dance productions, competitions, eisteddfods and other various performance opportunities. We have fully equipped studios located at Morningside Central Shopping Centre.

Kimberley Woodger Dance Academy is a centre of creativity and high energy. We inspire you to live more by dancing more. Kimberley Bennett-Woodger ARAD, RADRTS, CSTD aff.

Kimberley began her dance training in Sydney under Dawn and Joy Ransley, and was fortunate to be chosen to dance on numerous occasions as a child performer with ‘ Company’. Kimberley also danced annually in ‘Christmas at the Opera House’ and for many years was a member of ‘The Sydney Youth Ballet Company. In Brisbane she continued her training and obtained her Advanced Certificate with ‘The Royal Academy of Dance’ and was principal dancer with the ‘Ballet Theatre of Company". Kimberley danced in many Ballets including: Le Beau Danube "Street Dancer", Tanabata, The Waltz, Pas de Six, Snow Scenes "Red Skater", Les Sylphides, Coppelia "Dawn", Sylvia, Symphony in C and Garth Welch's production of Beauty and the Beast just to name a few. Kimberley performed with THE BOLSHOI BALLET in "Le Corsaire". Kimberley performed with AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE in "Swan Lake". After dancing in World Expo 88 (Bligh's Follies- Aquacade Show) working with choreographers Robyn Moase and John O’Connell (Strictly Ballroom, Romeo & Juliet), Kimberley also danced in Stage an TV productions in , United Kingdom, Japan, Hong Kong (Dance Captain) and was lead dancer at Disneyland. Kimberley also enjoyed a successful career in Irish National Dancing achieving, five times Australian Irish Figure Dancing Champion and five times N.S.W. Irish Figure Dancing Champion. With 30 years teaching experience in Hong Kong (Danceland), Japan (Professional Dance Centre), England (Freelance teacher) and Australia, Kimberley is an Associate and Registered Teacher with ‘The Royal Academy of Dance’ London and since 2011 a "mentor" for RAD Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies (CBTS), and an affiliated member of ‘The Australian Teachers of Dancing Association’. Kimberley a former Chairperson of The South-East Queensland Panel of The Royal Academy of Dance and a RAD CBTS mentor.

Katya Bennett-Woodger ARAD, RADRTS.

Katya begun her training under her mother at the age of 3. Katya obtained very high distinctions in all her Royal Academy of Dance Examinations to Advanced Two. Katya was accepted into The Junior Extension program and The Associate Program. Katya performed with The Queensland Ballet in their 50th Anniversary International Gala. Katya has won many awards including - Winner Jacqueline Morland Awards Intermediate Section. Most promising Classical Ballet Dancer - Redcliffe Eisteddfod. Katya performed with Ballet Theatre of Queensland and danced many ballets including, Pinocchio,, Coppelia, The Sleeping Princess. A Adventure of Don Quixote, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs "Dopey", Alice in Wonderland "Dormouse", and Cinderella. Katya graduated from the Royal Academy of Dance with her Certificate of Ballet Teacher Studies. Katya has a very keen interest in contemporary and lyrical choreography as her works have been very successful in competitions. Katya has achieved the highest level in Speech and Drama AMEB receiving excellent results. Katya is the owner and photographer, "dancers.of.brisbane" - instagram page.

MUMMY & ME - BABY DANCE (18 MONTHS TO 3 YEARS) The Baby Dance class is a magical introduction to dance for the 18m months to 3 years old child. A fun filled half-hour class that engages the child in age appropriate activities incorporating drama, music and props with the excitement of basic dance steps, creative movement, and vocabulary. For the little “Tiny Tots” and Mummy, or Daddy, dances with them. A lovely introduction to dance with the security of Mum and Dad joining in with the fun! CREATIVE DANCE - 3 TO 5 YEARS Creative Movement is a pre-dance/ballet class for girls and boys. The emphasis is on fun and creativity. The class utilizes music, movement and coordination activities as an early introduction to dance. This program has been specifically designed to develop the appropriate skills of the tiny, young dancer.

ROYAL ACADEMY OF DANCE CLASSICAL BALLET - RAD Students are accepted for Beginners classes and all Grade work in the Royal Academy of Dance curriculum. Students are entered for annual examinations. Private coaching lessons and individual preparation for exams and competition work are available. The Kimberley Woodger Dance Academy offers a friendly and safe dance environment in fully equipped dance studios. The safe and correct training of your child is one of our major concerns and ‘The Royal Academy of Dance’ Syllabus has been devised with great care. It progresses a child in stages demanding no more of a young body than with which it can easily cope. JAZZ (CSTD) & HIP HOP is for ages 3 and up. Dance movements taught to a variety of latest music. Jazz & Hip Hop/Funk are very popular forms of dance. Great fun. Jazz dance is always popular because it’s fast, upbeat and utilises a variety of modern music. Not only is it a good workout but it also provides students with the knowledge of a variety of styles, good musicality, a limbered body, and the ability to think/learn quickly. CSTD Jazz examinations are offered, and results are always excellent. HIP HOP DANCE Workshops coming soon in Term 3 & 4, 2020. Further information coming soon.

TAP DANCE (CSTD) Is for ages 3 and up. Dance movements taught to a variety of latest music. Great fun. Tap dance is always popular because it’s fast, upbeat and utilises a variety of modern music. Not only is it a good workout but it also provides students with the knowledge of a variety of styles, good musicality, a limbered body, and the ability to think/learn quickly. CSTD Tap examinations are offered, and results are always excellent.

CONTEMPORARY DANCE Is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern dance, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. This is a very popular class.

ACRODANCE Is a specifically for dancers. It is a genre of dance which incorporates elements of gymnastics, jazz, balancing, tumbling, and basic contortion. Students learn Acrobatic tricks such as handstands, cartwheels, chest stands, elbow stands, walkovers, side and front aerials and tumbling. Trick movements are usually executed slowly to emphasize gracefulness, body lines and picturesque extension. MUSICAL THEATRE Musical theatre students learn techniques for integrating acting, singing and dancing for musical theatre performances. Musical Theatre provides skills which helps in developing their confidence and ability to combine singing, dance and acting; becoming a true ‘triple- threat’ performer.

EISTEDDFODS AND PERFORMANCE Competition teams offers students a opportunity to dance with dedication and commitment as well as having a lot of fun with our competition teams. Students to learn and improve their stage skills & performance as many aspire to a career in the dance industry.

The classes are intended to complement your current training regime (regardless of which syllabus you are undertaking) and are conducted by qualified teachers.

Students will be challenged and inspired to achieve, to their highest potential. Our program will provide students with exceptional technical foundation that will better prepare them for the transition into full-time dance training.

Our elite training program provides talented students the opportunity to accelerate their dance training together with other, like-minded dancers.

Students attend one full day per week (every Wednesday), from approximately 9am – 3.00pm.

Students must obtain permission from their academic school.

Certificate 111 in Dance. Kimberley Woodger Dance Academy is thrilled to offer the Nationally Recognised Certificate III in Dance (CUA30113), providing students with a platform to launch their professional dance careers.

TRIAL LESSONS may be booked online through our website or with our admin staff, in person or over the phone. Please view the timetable on our website in advance and select a class that you would like to trial. If you book online and the class you select is booked out, we will contact you to advise which days are available. If you trial a class and continue for the remainder of the term, you will be invoiced for the term fee pro-rata from your first class. If you decide not to continue after your trial class, there is no charge. One trial lesson is permitted per style.Following your trial lesson you may contact our office to discuss or simply complete a full enrollment form online.

EXAMINATIONS/COMPETITIONS The Royal Academy of Dancing holds an examination session yearly for all ballet students, if suitable. Students must attend two Ballet classes per week to be considered to sit for their RAD examination (Primary Level & upwards). Eisteddfods Groups and solo work also available. Commonwealth Society of Dance hold examination once per year in Jazz and Tap.

PHOTOGRAPHY/FILMING Photographic consent and release is obtained at time of enrollment. By giving photographic consent students/parents agree to The Kimberley Woodger Dance Academy using images and/or videos of students on the Kimberley Woodger Dance Academy website or for social media and advertising purposes. Students/parents are not permitted to video or photograph classes, students or staff at any time, unless given permission by the staff or individuals involved. Due to music copyright laws, filming of all Kimberley Woodger Dance Academy theatre performances is strictly prohibited. Parents or guardians who do not wish for mages of their child to be published should contact Kimberley Woodger Dance Academy in writing by emailing [email protected], which will be treated in strict confidence.

GENERAL / FEES Classes run according to the school term to allow for school holidays. All classes are held on public holidays unless otherwise advised. Fees are payable on the first day of class each term. Arrangements can be made for special circumstances - please see your Miss Kimberley personally.Fees are per term not per class. Term fees are on a per-term basis (not per-class)Invoices for the next term are sent three weeks before the end of the current term. Fees for the next term are due first day of that term. If a student enrolls or begins a class mid-term, only remaining lessons will be invoiced. With the exception of ANZAC Day, classes are always held on Public Holidays that fall within each term. GST is applicable on all invoices and will be detailed specifically. Term fees are not discounted due to absence under any circumstances, however two make-up lessons in another time slot are permitted per term.

OPEN DAY. To ensure the students’ full attention, and to enable the children to focus during class, parents are asked to wait outside during class. All parents are invited to attend Open Day in the studio to view class. Open Day is usually held on the last day of terms 1 & 2. We showcase ALL our students in our end of year concert.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT Kimberley Woodger Dance Academy will provide an opportunity for every student to experience joy, creativity and artistic freedom in dance by facilitating the achievement of a secure technical foundation in a warm and caring environment.. CATCH UP CLASSES FOR MISSED CLASSES & POLICY. 1.Proficiency in class is largely dependent on regular and consistent participation. It is strongly recommended that children attend all classes in the session. Absenteeism interrupts the technical progression of the child in the class and disrupts the continuity of the class for other students. 2. It is the parent’s/dancer’s responsibility to notify the teacher(via email: [email protected]) of absences and make arrangements in advance for any potential make-up classes. Make-up classes for absences due to illness or other circumstances will be allowed as class size and teacher schedule will permit. Make-up classes will NOT be scheduled during observation weeks, costume weeks, or weeks being utilized for choreography instruction. 3. NO REFUNDS OR DISCOUNTS WILL BE GIVEN FOR MISSED CLASSES! Fees and performance fees are non-refundable.Non-attendance does not constitute withdrawal. We require two weeks advanced written notice if you or your child wishes to withdraw from our program.We do not refund absences. No refunds/credits are given to for dancers missing classes, missed classes due to vacation, holidays and/or days off from school. 4. Make-up Lessons: Proficiency in class is largely dependent on regular and consistent participation. Therefore, it is recommended that students make up classes whenever possible. All make-up classes must be made up within the current term session. 5. Fees. Fess are payable on the first day of term, each term. Discounts apply for multiple classes per child. For new students starting after the term has commenced, fees are calculated pro rata from your child's first class start date.Fees are refundable for Mummy & Me, Creative Movement classes only, however 2 weeks notice is required. 6. Trial Classes are offered. However you will be invoiced from your first class, if you decide to continue with that class. 7. Fees are charged per term. Length of the term may differ from term to term however, our fees will remain the same for each term.

ATTENDING DANCE CLASSES. Dance classes can involve risk of personal injury. While KWDA takes all reasonable care in the conduct of its classes; it accepts no responsibility for injury or loss caused during classes or whilst participants are at or near the dance studio. You are responsible for ensuring that attendees are physically and mentally fit for the class. By attending classes on our timetable you agree to these Terms and Conditions BEHAVIOR & BULLYING Kimberley Woodger Dance Academy does not tolerate swearing, indecent or disrespectful language, defamatory comments, or indecent or disrespectful conduct from staff, students, parents/guardians, family members, or visitors. Appropriate behavior is expected on the premises and at associated events, as well as online. Where any person or student feels that they are the victim of bullying, they should notify the Principal Kimberley Bennett-Woodger immediately by emailing [email protected] All incidents brought to the Principal’s attention will be addressed and resolved promptly.
