Kala To Show 2016 Elite Ukulele Series

Kala Brand Music Co. will unveil it’s 2016 lineup of California made Elite™ ukulele at the January NAMM show. Kala’s Elite™ USA Ukulele Series are all hand-built at the Kala custom shop in Petaluma, California. The Elite™ line consists of three series: Classic Satin Series, Classic Series, Artist Series and Elite Series. All are available in soprano, concert and tenor sizes.

Specifications include all solid Hawaiian Koa, Honduran Mahogany neck, Indian rosewood fingerboard (Classic and Artist series), heel cap and bridge; Graphtech Tusq Nut® and bone saddle, Kala Flourocarbon strings, and UV-cured finishes.

The Elite Series will feature Premium Figured Hawaiian Koa with Ebony Fingerboard, bridge heel cap and headstock overlay. All models will come with a Kala Elite™ hard case and a Music Nomad Humilele Humidifier included in the price. A notable design feature is the fingerboard spacing of 1.5”, which is wider than most ukuleles. This increases the string spacing to give the fingers more room to maneuver.

In addition Kala will offer premium upgrade options that will include maple, koa, ebony, and purpleheart binding as well as paua abalone and other features.

KALA ReleasesTwo New Guitar Models

Kala Brand Music Co™ continues to broaden the company’s guitar choices with the addition of a Mini Orchestra model (KA-GTR-OM) and a Parlor Guitar (KA-GTR-PLR). Both guitars fit into a popular category of Kala travel inspired instruments, portable in size and notable for their full rich tone.

The Mini OM perfectly separates treble and bass tones due to the proper ratio of its small upper bout and beefy lower bout. It’s small body and shortened neck provide portability and convenience that will appeal to solo artists and finger picking stylists. It features a Solid Spruce top, Rosewood back and sides, Maple binding with Rosewood purfling, Mahogany neck, Chrome die cast tuners, Rosewood Fingerboard, and a gloss finish. The KA-GTR-PLR Parlor guitar’s tone is very warm and full bodied without being overbearing, making it an essential companion to the songwriter and recording artist, as well as an open mic regular. Features include a Solid Cedar Top, Mahogany back and sides, Rosewood binding, Herringbone purfling and rosette, slotted headstock with Pearloid inlay, Chrome open gear Grover™ Tuners, and a satin finish. Kala Expands Guitarlele Series With Mahogany Model

Kala Brand Music Co.™ has added a new model to its Guitarlele series with the introduction of a mahogany model, the KA-GL. The mahogany model is a more affordable version of Kala’s Koa Guitarlele which is a hybrid instrument that fills a niche for guitar players looking for the perfect travel guitar as well as ukulele players exploring guitar for the first time. The six stringed instrument is tuned to A-D-G-C-E-A and projects a bright full tone, similar to capoing up on the 5th fret of a regular guitar. The KA-GL is constructed of mahogany back and sides and projects a full rich sound that makes the guitarlele the perfect choice for all players seeking to add a new voice to their sound repertoire. Features include rosewood fingerboard and bridge, chrome Grover tuners, bone nut and saddle, black and white dual rosette, Aquila strings, and a satin finish. The KA-GL has a list price of $224.99.

Kala Baritone Travel

Kala Music Inc.’s Baritone Travel Ukulele is the latest addition to Kala’s widely popular Thinline ukulele series. The secret to Kala’s travel ukes, first introduced in 2009, is evident in the select solid spruce tops, precisely engineered arched backs, and their thin bodies which produce a big sound that belies their size.

All Thinline Travel ukes come with their own heavily padded gig bag with embroidered logo. Other features include mahogany back and sides, mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard and bridge, die-cast chrome tuners with black buttons, silver nickel frets, satin finish, truss rod, and GraphTech™ NuBone XB Nut and saddle.

The Body depth is a svelte 2.5” making it very comfortable to play and exceptionally portable. The overall length is 30 ½” and the body length is14”. Kala Bubinga U-BASS

The Bubinga U-BASS™ is the latest model in the distinctive line of award winning short scale portable bass instruments from Kala Brand Music™. The Bubinga U-BASS is strung with Kala’s proprietary Road Toad Pahoehoe™ strings and includes a specially designed Shadow Active Pickup System with EQ and Tuner.

The 21” scale bass features distinctive grain patterns of bubinga wood on the top, back and sides and comes with a custom fitted padded logo gig bag. Other specifications include a mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard and bridge, Exclusive Hipshot Licensed black anodized tuners, Graph Tech Labs™ Black TUSQ Nut, and a Truss rod. Introduced in 2009 the U-BASS line has grown extensively to include acoustic-electric, solid body, fretless, fretted, 4 and 5 string models. Kala offers a variety of string options for U-BASS including round wound strings for all models.

5-String SUB U-BASSES GO EVEN LOWER

Kala recently introduced a 5 String SUB Series of Solid Body U-Basses, the latest addition to Kala's revolutionary line of short scale bass instruments. Since 2011, the S- U-B Series has offered an affordable four string alternative to Kala's USA manufactured solid body basses. Fans of the four string models have consistently asked about the possibility of a five string model. Kala has answered that request with four new models for 2015.

The new 5-string SUB models are equipped with Kala's proprietary polyurethane strings, a Shadow active pickup system with volume control and 2 band EQ, Custom Hipshot Licensed Tuners, and Graph Tech Black Tusq self-lubricating nut.

Five string fretted versions are available in Sunburst, Cherryburst, Red, and Black finishes. All Kala U-Basses are very portable and meet most airline carry on requirements. A Custom Deluxe Logo Gig bag is included in the price of each instrument. List price is $619.
