Prepared for Leslie Cabarga's "Learn FontLab Fast" book* PC TrueType / OpenType TT (Also known as: Data-fork TrueType, Windows TrueType, TrueType-flavored OpenType, TTF) Pros: Works on Windows, Linux and Mac OS X. May contain up to 65,535 characters, supports Unicode and can contain OpenType layout features, making the format suitable for multilingual fonts, non-latin fonts and advanced typographic features (such as automatic ligatures, small caps). TrueType hinting allows precise control in small screen sizes, can also contain bitmaps. Can include embedding rights information defining whether or not the font may be attached to electronic documents. Cons: Does not work on Mac OS 8/9; not completely cross-platform. May cause output problems on ten-year-old PostScript output and printing devices. The designer usually needs to convert the outlines from beziers which may introduce slight changes in the shape. When converted back to beziers (e.g. in Illustrator), the resulting curves have superfluous points. Manual TrueType hinting is laborious to create. The multilingual and advanced typography features only work with new OpenType-savvy applications, otherwise just the basic character set is available. For font families, requires two versions of the family name within each font: the first may contain any number of styles; the second "mini-family" may contain only four styles. OpenType PS (Also known as: OpenType-CFF, PostScript-flavored OpenType, OTF) Pros: Works on Windows, Linux, Mac OS 8.6, 9, and OS X. Uses the bezier curve system preferred by designers and used in drawing apps such as Illustrator and Freehand so letterforms can be drawn precisely and outlines need not be converted. -

It had changed supply chain design in last four decades. A Website display, as one of strategic decision of an e-commerce, has been a competitive advantage to win the market. Moreover, impulsive buying had recognized as cognitive natural flaw which had given an advantage for both retailer and consumer. Sometimes, the tremendous increment of the number of internet access on an e-commerce site is not accompanied by increment of buying. Meanwhile, the study about the influences of a web display to impulse buying behaviors had been written so little. In this paper, a preliminary research about the influences of a web display to impulse buying behaviors is conducted. The study is conducted on online fashion stores in Indonesia. This paper depicts the development of sixteen display attributes for accessing impulse buying on online fashion stores. Twenty (20) attributes has been developed from literature survey and interview. Then, a survey has been given to 150 respondents to determine the display’s attributes that influenced to impulsive buying. A factor analysis has been run to sixteen (16) attributes that have significant influence to Impulse Buying and four factors have been developed. -

Beyond the "how to," learn about good design practices for content preparation, navigation design and site management, plus strategies for supporting visitors connecting with everything from smart phones to desktops (responsive web design). Practice your developing skills by executing a series of projects that gradually build a personal website on the UW web servers. Cap it off with a team project where you can mix in your own ideas about online data or media services, social networks and design, and see what you can create. Prerequisites: Students registering for the course should be computer literate. That is, they should have an understanding of basic word-processing and text editing, file transfer, use of email, use of a web-browser, and basic use of image editing tools (e.g. Photoshop). Goals for the quarter: • To understand the fundamental technologies that underpin the “wild wild web.” • To understand current web capabilities, technologies and limitations. • To develop hands-on skill and judgement in design/construction of simple web sites. • To become confident and capable of creating or maintaining content using simple tools. • To create a web site which demonstrates what you have learned. -

Against its intended purpose, ff Meta very quickly became one of the most popular typefaces of the computer era, and has been referred to as the Helvetica of the 90s – not necessarily a compliment. It is used a lot in magazines, from the Normal weight in small point sizes for captions up to the Black version for large headlines. Hairline, Thin and Light were added in 2003. Once a publishing house commissioned a Black Condensed for the headlines of a new magazine. It unfortunately ceased publication after a few issues, but ff Meta Black Condensed survived. This version was the basis for the complete Condensed family, digitized by Ole Schäfer. Since headlines need to be bold before anything else, ff Meta Condensed has one additional weight compared with ff Meta: Extra Bold Condensed, which sits between Bold and Black. ff Meta Condensed contains all weights with Old Style as well as Lining Figures, there are fractions, ligatures, kerned lining figures and also the popular Meta arrows. One of the casualties of this change was the recital recording, in which an artist or ensemble would present an interesting arrangement of musical pieces that followed a certain theme or style—much like a live concert. Although recital recordings were of course made, and are perhaps making a comeback, most recordings featured a single composer and were sold in alphabetized bins: B for Bach; V for Vivaldi. -
