Jonathan R. Moser A versatile and adventurous performer, Jonathan R. Moser – conductor, violinist, violist, vocalist, and teacher – regularly concertizes with chamber ensembles, as a recitalist, and with . He is Principal Second Violin with the Erie Philharmonic. He has loved music ever since childhood when he would sit under the family piano listening to his parents and grandmother playing Beethoven, Chopin, and Rachmaninof. Mr. Moser is the Director of the Mercyhurst Civic where he has instituted an annual concerto competition, led the ensemble through the shif from a chamber group to a full , expanded the membership and the performance schedule, including adding the Civic Orchestras frst collaboration with the Mercyhurst Dance Department in four performances of ’s Giselle, and performances of full operas with the Mercyhurst Opera Teater, including Don Pasquale and Rigoletto. Mr. Moser is also the Artistic Director of the Erie Junior Philharmonic. A tireless advocate of youth education, he has already overseen exciting growth in both students numbers and program oferings. We are looking forward to an exciting upcoming season as we will be celebrating our 75th anniversary, easily making the Erie Junior Philharmonic one of the Nations most venerable and proven educational musical institutions. Drawing on this history while guiding a fresh outlook, the Jr. Philharmonic is poised for great things as the country recovers from the COVID pandemic. Mr. Moser is also the Orchestra Program Director for the Philadelphia International Music Festival where during the summer, he organizes and oversees up to ten orchestras reaching nearly 500 students. Mr. Moser is an alum of the Pierre Monteux School & Music Festival, where he attended in 2018 as a Bernard Osher Conducting Scholar. Mr. Moser and his wife are blessed with three wonderful children. Sarah Kahl Dr. Sarah Kahl is a member of the music faculty at Mercyhurst University, and is the accompanist for the college at Penn State Erie, Te Behrend College and the Erie Philharmonic Chorus. She was previously on the piano faculties at Concordia College in Minnesota and Valley City State University in North Dakota. Dr. Kahl received her DMA in Piano Performance from the University of Kansas where she studied with Jack Winerock. She received her Master’s Degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Nebraska where she studied with Paul Barnes and pedagogy with Brenda Wristen. She received her Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota and studied under David Worth. Dr. Kahl is an active performer, both as a solo artist and a collaborative pianist. She has performed in Vienna, Austria, at the Bsendorfer Piano Academy where she studied with Wolfgang Watzinger and Krassimira Jordan. Dr. Kahl currently collaborates with numerous music faculty members and students in and around the Erie area.
