Mitch King’s Extra Heartbeat Scholarship Application Due Date: April 1, 2019 Mitch was a 1st Team all-state football player at Burlington High School. After High School he attended University of Iowa and started at Defensive Tackle for four years. He ended his college career as the Big Ten "Defensive Lineman of the Year”. Mitch went on to play four seasons in the NFL spending time with the Indianapolis Colts, Tennessee Titans, New Orleans Saints, and the Houston Texans.
Mitch was considered a player that had an extra passion for the game. This scholarship will be granted to those who demonstrate a similar heart and passion for sports as well the intangible life lessons sports can teach you.
Criteria and Constraints for the Extra Heartbeat Scholarship are as follows: 1. Applicant must be involved in at least one sport throughout their high school career. 2. At least one recipient will be chosen from Mitch’s alma mater, Burlington Community High School, Burlington Iowa. 3. The total scholarship amount given will be $5,000. This may be broken up into two or more scholarships depending on the number of stand-out applications we receive.
