This is a lovely walk to do on a clear bright day and offers one of the best views of many peaks in the Mountain range.

Leave Benar at the top gate and turn left onto the forest track. After a few metres turn A walk right off the main track at the path marker and take the path up the hill. This is initially steep and slippery so take care. Follow this path up through the woods, crossing the through the stream, until you reach another forest track. Turn left onto this track which bends sharply to the right just after you join it. Carry on along the track passing the PEDLO forest with CYFLYM cycle track marker. As the track levels and bends sharply to the left, continue straight ahead. You will pass a forest gate and reach the entrance to a small quarry stunning with a Natural Resources site safety notice. views of the Take the sharp left turn directly opposite the quarry entrance. This track undulates and is a little steep in places. Proceed along this track and just after you clear the trees you Snowdonia will see the peak of Moel Siabod on your right.

The track opens out into a wide open space, and you will see the SBWNG bike track mountain marker on your left. Continue straight ahead on the forest track for just over ½ mile. Over on your right you can see the whole of the Snowdonia mountain range, with range on your left, the and in the middle and the on the right, behind Moel Siabod in the foreground.

Towards the end of the track, look carefully to the right for a clearing in the trees and the white letters "FP" spray-painted onto one of the trees. Take this footpath. (If you miss the path don't worry, just carry on to the end of the forest track)

Follow the obvious path, descending through the beautiful forest. As you leave the woods, re-join the forest track and turn right. Very shortly, turn sharp left, passing a red bike track marker. There are more beautiful views to the right. Stay on this track for ½ mile until you meet a tarmacked lane at a crossroads. You will see signs for Gwydyr Stables and Tŷ Mawr. Turn left and follow the road gently up hill. You will pass a forest track on your right and a layby on the left. The road levels and descends. You will pass a forest track on your left. The road then bends before descending quite steeply. Turn left at the crossroads onto forest tracks once more. Almost immediately, take the short forest track on your right. At the PENTOP bike track marker, stay on the forest track descending to the left. At the next crossroads, you will see Pen Top cottage. Continue straight ahead along the forest track, keeping the cottage to your left. After a mile, you will be back at Benar Cottages.
