Therefore, we are writing to you to express our deep concern with President Trump’s recent Executive Order directed at the immigration system, refugees and visitors to this country. This Order not only jeopardizes tens of thousands of lives, it has caused a crisis right here in America and will do long-term damage to our national security. In the middle of the night, just as we were beginning our nation’s commemoration of the Holocaust, dozens of refugees onboard flights to the United States and thousands of visitors were swept up in an Order of unprecedented scope, apparently with little to no oversight or input from national security professionals. Individuals, who have passed through multiple rounds of robust security vetting, including just before their departure, were detained, some reportedly without access to lawyers, right here in U.S. airports. They include not only women and children whose lives have been upended by actual radical terrorists, but brave individuals who put their own lives on the line and worked side-by-side with our men and women in uniform in Iraq now fighting against ISIL. -

Yonge Library of Florida History, Special Collections, George A. Smathers Libraries, University of Florida. Diaries and family collections are stored by the name of the major creator/writer. Other items have individual call numbers and are stored in folders in a shelving area dedicated to all types of small collections and miscellaneous papers (19th and 20th century records and personal papers, print materials, photocopies of research materials from other archives, etc.). “Pioneer Days in Florida” will digitize only the original 19th century manuscripts in the possession of the University of Florida. Exclusions from scanning will include—blank pages in diaries; routine receipts in family papers; and non-original or photocopied materials sometimes filed with original manuscripts. About the Metadata The project diaries have corresponding UF Library Catalog Records. Family collections have EAD Finding Aids along with UF Library Catalog Records. Although our group remains bullish about the company, we think taking some profits from PG's recent run-up and allocating funds elsewhere in the sector would be most beneficial. While the company has provided strong organic growth in each of the two previous quarters, a number of headwinds remain in the way which will likely restrict future growth. A stronger U.S. Dollar has essentially offset the organic revenue growth, and the rise in transportation costs and commodity prices has and will likely continue to squeeze the margins of PG. With consumer tastes trending towards less expensive generic brands, customers may not respond favorably to recent price increases of some of Procter & Gamble’s largest brands. Our sector believes PG is currently trading at a premium that will not be satisfied with future growth. Despite all of this, we are still bullish because of the high dividend yield that the company has increased for 62 consecutive years, wide array of brand offerings, and brand loyalty and recognition, among other factors. Considering cross-current risks that exist in the macroeconomic environment and the potential of an upcoming recession or economic downturn, Procter & Gamble will continue to provide stable growth and hedge our portfolio. Regardless of their party affiliation or preferred diplomatic priorities, presidents have invariably come to appreciate that they can- not afford to make foreign policy decisions in the same manner as they did when they were a candidate. The requirements of managing an enormous and complex national security bureau- cracy reward careful deliberation and strategic consistency, while sharply punishing the kind of policy shifts that are more common on the campaign trail. Statements by the president are taken far more seriously abroad than are promises by a candidate, by both allies and adversaries alike. And while policy mistakes made before entering office can damage a candidate’s personal political prospects, a serious misstep made once in office can put the country itself at risk. -

Working Paper No. 34 / November 2012 Reviewing Member States’ Commitment to the European External Action Service Abstract Based on interviews with diplomats from a representative cross-section of nine member states and members of the EEAS itself, the research findings of this EPIN Working Paper confirm long-standing traditions and member state perceptions of cooperation with European institutions. The paper also reveals new aspects of the intergovernmental method of foreign policy shaping and making in the European Union; in particular how different national positions can positively or negatively affect the consolidation of the EEAS and the role of the EU as an international actor. 4 A Recalculation of Interests NAFTA and Mexican Foreign Policy No event since the Mexican Revolution has had such a dramatic effect on relations between the United States and Mexico as the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). NAFTA has often been understood as the result of expansionist U.S. trade policy at a triumphal historical moment – a victory for the U.S. international economic agenda even as the Soviet Union collapsed. This interpretation largely ignores Mexico’s role in initiating talks. NAFTA fed hopes for a “free trade zone stretching from the port of Anchorage to Tierra del Fuego,” in the words of President George H.W. Bush. 1 This initiative had started with Canada a few years prior. However, it received its most important boost when the United States and Mexico decided in early 1990 to pursue an agreement that would, for the first time, tightly link the world’s largest economy with that of a much lower-income country. Despite the congruence with announced U.S. policies – President Reagan had similarly dreamed of free trade from “Yukon to Yucatan” 2 – the pact hinged not on U.S. pressure but on Mexican leaders’ profound reevaluation of their own country’s interests. NAFTA reflected a realization that Mexico could best pursue its interests by engaging the United States in institutional arrangements instead of by rhetorical counters. Even before NAFTA, Mexico relied on exports of oil and light manufacturing from maquiladoras , over- whelmingly to the United States. The rules governing these exports were open to constant negotiations and the frequent threat of countervailing duties on Mexican products.
