Summary Report of the 6th Round of the First Division of the HNL Events Monitored by HHO Observers GNK Dinamo – NK Lokomotiva 2 : 1 The Zagreb derby was played on Saturday, 17 August 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at the stadium in Kranjčevićeva before about 4,500 spectators, 150 of whom were members of the Bad Blue Boys (BBB – a fan group that represents itself as fans of Dinamo). Already in the 12th minute they began their well-known racist chanting, "Mamić, you Gypsy, leave the holy shrine," which they repeated several times in the 33rd, 56th, 63rd, 67th, 69th, 70, and 83rd minutes. In the 84th minute, BBB sang, "We are drinking pelinkovac, we are smoking grass, we like most Mamić without a head." (Pijemo pelina, pušimo trave, najviše volimo Mamića bez glave). In the last minute of the match came the homophobic chant, "HNS faggots, you have fucked up foot- ball." We noted an interesting detail in the 23rd minute. The police surrounded BBB from the left, right, and upper sides, separated from them by only 2-3 meters. In the 51st minute, when BBB lit a flare, a policeman was standing only a meter or two from the perpetrator, but he did not react. At the end of the first half BBB chanted, "Vukovar, Vukovar," and then "Kill, kill the Serbs." They repeated it again at the end of the second half. The police did not react to either one or the other chauvinistic incident, which represented the criminal offense of ethnic and religious hatred under the Criminal Code of the Republic of . The question can be asked why the riot police sur- rounded BBB at all!? With such an attitude their presence was more like folklore. HNK – RNK Split 1 : 1 The match was played on Saturday, 17 August 2013 at 9:00 p.m. at the Kantrida Stadium in Rijeka before about 6,000 spectators, about 2,000 of whom were members of Armada (the fan group of HNK Rijeka). Already in the 15th minute, Armada chanted to the Split players, "Tovar pussies," and "Kill, kill the Tovars" which they repeated several times until the end of the match (20th, 24th, and 66th minutes). In the 15th minute Armada, and then the rest of the spectators chanted, "Gypsies, Gypsies," which was repeated in the 17th minute, and shouts were aimed at the referees for awarding a penalty kick against HNK Rijeka. In the 18th minute they chanted, "HNS faggots, you have fucked up football," which was repeated in the 52nd minute and just before the end of the match. In the 31st and 32nd minutes Armada chanted to Stanko Mršić, the coach of HNK Split, "Stanko, you faggot." In the 26th minute lighters and several bottles of water flew from the middle grandstand onto the tartan track. Because of several "aggressive" fans who threw bottles onto the tartan track, 5-6 riot police ap- peared in the central part of the grandstand. In the 86th minute the public in the north grandstand threw several bottles onto the tartan track, and after a red card against the captain of HNK Split, Ivica Križanac, the public chanted, "Kill, kill the Tovars" and "Gypsies, Gypsies." After the press conference at the end of the match the Split coach, Stanko Mršić, was escorted to the stadium exit to avoid a group of angry fans. 2

HNK Hajduk – NK Slaven Belupo 1 : 0 The match between HNK Hajduk and NK Slaven Belupo was played in Split on 18 August 2013 at 7:00 p.m. in the presence of about 12,000 spectators, among whom there were nearly 2,000 mem- bers of Torcida (the fan group of HNK Hajduk). Most of the match passed with standard fan decorum and with the singing of songs. Flares were thrown several times, in the 11th, 25th, and 46th minutes, and then five or six in the 65th minute. None of them, however, were thrown over the fence around the playing field. At the beginning of the second half the unpleasant and chauvinistic chanting began, obviously as a reaction to events in Vukovar during the European basketball championships for juniors. During that event, slogans like, "This is Serbia," were heard and a banner with "Vukovar" written in Cyrillic was displayed. In the 53rd minute there were shouts of, "Kill, kill the Serbs," and "Serbs in the trees," which were repeat- ed in the 67th minute with the addition of, "Let’s go, Ustasha." In the 83rd minute there followed, "HNS faggots, you have fucked up football," along with, "Mamić, you Gypsy." As an addendum to this report, we are including a text from the web portal of the newspaper, Slobodna Dalmacija, published on 20 August, which describes what happened at Poljud Stadium. HHO welcomes this step by the editors of Slobodna Dalmacija, considering it to be a complete and objective account of events at the match, which is, of course, an important contribution to the fight against everything that is illegal in our stadiums.

------NATIONALIST SLOGANS Last night Torcida missed the cheering and the match... Until the 60th minute Torcida, as usual, loudly and without stop cheered for Hajduk, but then without any provocation, they began to shout nationalist slogans, full of hatred and calls for killing. First, accompanied with several flares, they raised a banner, "Milicija čuva svoje" (?!), (The police protect their own. N.B. milicija is the Serbian word for police) and then the customary, "Croatian police, bribery and corruption," and at the end – "Kill the Serbs.". This last chant encouraged the spectators and the eastern grandstand, who joined in. We will see if this time Hajduk will be de- nounced for this kind of chanting. . ------

NK Osijek – NK Istra 1961 1 : 3 The match between NK Osijek and NK Istra 1961 was played in Osijek on 18 August 2013 at 9:00 p.m. at the stadium in the Municipal Park before about 1,500 spectators, 150 of whom were mem- bers of Cohort (the fan group of NK Osijek) and about 50 of whom were members of the Demons (the fan group of NK Istra). The match was played in a relatively calm atmosphere that was upset by a flare thrown by Cohort in the 30th minute, while the Demons lit their flares in the 700th minute. In the 35th and 36tgh minutes Cohort and Demons together chanted, "HNS faggots, you have fucked up football!", which the rest of the public greeted with applause. In the 75th and 80th minutes the Demons chanted the sexist message, "Fuck you, referee."
