5. Are settings personalized? (condition, EAN settings and etc.) 3. Compass 5. Personal Settings

Nitrox Diving

Nitrox Diving refers to diving with decreased partial pressure of Nitrogen reducing the danger of and decompression time. By decreasing Nitrogen, Oxygen is increased where in divers are exposed to , therefore divers with Nitrox specialties certified by Internationally acknowledged SCUBA schools such as SSI, PADI and those part of the RSTC (Recreational Scuba Training Council) should be the ONLY divers to use the Nitrox feature.

Checkin Battery Status

Batteries are effected by its surrounding and internal consumption. Low battery signal may be shown although battery is charged when unattended for a period of time, or exposed to low for some time. If unused or unattend for some time, please remember to check your battery status before use. .*Consumable parts such as batteries are discluded from the warranty service CYANO provides. [refer to Pg.11 concerning After Service Policy]

Personal Settings

Compass Calibration Remember to Calibrate your Compass before diving, compass measurements may defer from place to place. Enter settings -> Calibration to calibrate your compass, take note to calibrate only on flat planes rotating a few times to get measurements correct. After measurements are adjusted, screen will automatically return to menu.

Personal Setting You may adjust condition settings up to 3 levels depending on your expereance and condition. Depending on your settings, decompression computations may vary, where as setting to POOR decreases your non-decompression limit, set to NORMAL for average computation set to POOR for when diving conditions including the user are not so good set to GREAT for when diving conditions including the user are excellent

Using the Dive Mode

1. The CYANO-RF changes to DIVE MODE automatically when, submerged under water at a depth of 1.5 meter for more than 30 seconds. 2. Critical Depth Alarm The Alarm will be visible and heard to help user to maintain An alarm will be visible and heard after reaching the depth of 40m designated STOP depths during Safety Stop and DECO Stop which is the depth limit for recreational divers to reduce danger of DCI procedures.

It is impossible to eliminate entirely the risk of DCI with any instruments when diving, even when all safety procedures are met with correct dive plans and ● correct use of diving tables. It is recommended for the user to stay fit and healthy for the computer is unable to calculate personal fitness of each user, it is also recommended that the user dives after consulting with a physician

This page is to warn and notify the user that no instruments or dive plans may eliminate the danger of DCI entirely. ● It is recommended for the user to consult with the , dive master or the instructor thoroughly concerning the dive plan before diving

10 Diving

Different Dive Modes

Color differs from Dive mode to Dive mode depending on the current state of diving. Usual Safety Stop Deco-Mode Gauge Mode

Normal Dive Mode The Blue dive mode is the normal mode when diving There are two types of interface during this mode where the user may use the prefered one The first interface includes the minimum information that is needed while exectuing a dive and also for users with low eye grades with informations displayed bigger compared to the second

Display 1 Display 2

Safety Stop Mode Doing Safety Stops is a good habit for divers It is recommended to all divers to prevent decompression illness as much as possible by stopping at a designated depth for a time to release residual Nitrogen within the body The CYANO-RF computes for Safety Stops if the computer was used more than 10 minutes during diving.

Safety Stop procedures After executing most of your dive, the computer’s interface will change to Safety Stop mode when ascending to depths of 8m The CYANO-RF will start alarming to ascend to a Safety Stop depth starting 6.5m and will count down from 5.9m It is recommended for the user to execute a Safety Stop before exiting the water

Diving with DECO MODE A red screen will appear when user exceeds his or her NDL and enters DECO MODE A visual alarm will appear to alert the user to ascend or descend to a designated depth to do a DECO STOP It is required for the diver to move to the designated depth to do a DECO STOP before exiting the water If not followed, the user may be exposed to serious injuries, DCI or death. Incase air in the tank is not enough to compensate for a DECO STOP, proceed with a DECO STOP until air lasts before exiting water.

Diving with Gauge Mode Calculations for an average Scuba Dive may differ when diving right after diving with the Gauge Mode The Gauge Mode does not include features such as an algorithm or ascent rate indicator All dangers or problems caused by Scuba Diving with the Gauge Mode is relied on the user The Gauge Mode does not compute for decompression procedures therefore it is prohibited to use the Gauge Mode when Scuba Diving

Diving in Nitrox Mode

Cautions before diving Residual Nitrogen and decompression calculations differ depending on the input of partial pressure Oxygen. Never round up the decimal point of the actual PPO2 when inputting to computer. (ex. 31.8% oxygen should be inputted as 31% to ensure safety If inputted incorrectly, and rounded up, this may result to a decompression dive where in No-Decompression Limits will be miscalculated. like wise when oxygen is misinputted the wrong way it may result to oxygen toxicity therefore please be cautious when inputting information. Dive Plan Mode will adjust NDL depending on the PPO2 that was set by the user.

Basic Nitrox Settings CYANO_RF sets PPO2 to 21%. The user may set his or her PPO2 from 21%~99% depending on the dive.

Always remember to consult with your instructor before doing any adjustments.

14 Technical Specifications

B ühlmann(ZH-L16C) Algorithm ● CYANO uses bühlmann ZH-L16C as its algorithm. The Bühlmann decompression algorithm computes by detecting the inert gases that enter and leave the human body as the changes. This algorithm helps the diver to plan and executes his or her dive by being able to calculate those gases. The algorithm was developed by Swiss physician Dr. Albert A. Bühlmann, who did research into at the Laboratory of Hyperbaric at the University Hospital in Zürich, Switzerland. The results of Bühlmann's research that began in 1959 were published in a 1983 German book whose English translation was entitled Decompression-Decompression Sickness. The book was regarded as the most complete public reference on decompression calculations and was used soon after in dive computer algorithms. The model assumes limited and multiple parallel tissue compartments and uses an inverse exponential model for in-gassing and out-gassing, both of which are assumed to occur in the dissolved phase (without bubble formation).

Decompression Dives ● Decompression Dives refer to diving with the need of decompression under water to minimized the danger of DCI by lowering the amount of residual Nitrogen within the body, which is a result of exceeding recreational limits. Recreational divers a prohibited from exceeding these limits without learning the dangers and procedures.

2 Minunte Pre-alarm CYANO-RF helps the user not to exceed these limits by setting off an alarm visually and by sound to warn the user 2 minutes before his or her NDL

cause of Decompression Sickness ● the following may be the cause of decompression sickness which may vary from person to person.

Diving in waters under 20 degrees Divers with disabilities and physical illness Fatigue State Dehydrated State Divers with history of expereancing Decompression Illness Stress Obesity Divers with Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO) Radical excercise before diving
