    JETHRO TULL by IAN ANDERSON – 50th Anniversary Tour – 23. November 2019 – Berlin, Theater am Potsdamer Platz Text: Holger Ott Kaum ist ein Jahr vergangen, so schlägt der Altmeister des Progressive Rock im Rahmen seiner fünfzig Jahre Jubiläumstour erneut in Berlin auf. Dieses Mal im Stage-Theater am Potsdamer Platz, in dem bis vor einiger Zeit das Musical "Hinterm Horizont", über das Leben von UDO LINDENBERG, mehrere Jahre erfolgreich lief. Nun gibt sich IAN ANDERSON im passenden Ambiente die Ehre, immerhin eine Spielstätte, die er in Berlin noch nicht kennengelernt hat. Nach einer langen Konstante in der Besetzung der Band, kündigt der Altmeister an der Querflöte auf seiner Webseite an, dass Gitarrist FLORIAN OPAHLE die Formation zum Ende des Jahres verlassen wird. Sein Nachfolger steht mit JOE PARRISH bereits fest und mein Kollege MIKE und ich sind gespannt, ob dieser heute bereits die Saiten zupfen wird. Beim Betrachten der Setliste, im Vergleich zum Vorjahr, gibt es nur kleine unwesentliche Veränderungen. Somit komme ich, als alter TULL-Fan auch in den Genuss, der Jubiläumstour beizuwohnen, die ich ein Jahr zuvor krankheitsbedingt sausen lassen musste. Sicherlich hätte Mr. ANDERSON deutlich mehr zu bieten, als die Auswahl der Songs verspricht. Betrachtet man seine letzte Best-Off CD "50 from 50", und vergleicht das mit dem heutigen Konzert, so stellt der wachsame Konzertbesucher fest, dass das Programm eigentlich nichts anderes ist, als das, was ANDERSON bereits seit vielen Jahren immer wieder auf die Bühne bringt. Natürlich will der Fan so viel wie möglich bekanntes Material aus fünfzig Jahren hören, aber wo sind dann Songs wie "War Child", "Bungle In The Jungle", "North See Oil" oder Auszüge aus den jüngeren JETHRO TULL Werken? Gerade als bekennender Verfechter von Umweltschutz, wundert es mich, das sich ANDERSON nicht aktuellen Themen widmet und diese mit Auszügen aus der, soeben durch STEVEN WILSON restaurierten CD "Stormwatch" anprangert, die sich ja bekanntlich als Konzeptalbum dem Umweltschutz widmet, bzw.

    Biographie 2008 40 Jahre Tull Frühe 1968…eine Gruppe junger, britischer Musiker schließt sich in Luton, Nord- London zusammen. Hungrig, verarmt mit bescheidenem Optimismus emporgestiegen aus den Überresten verschiedener, erfolgloser , regionaler Bands. Mit allgemeiner Liebe zum Blues, gegenseitiger Akzeptanz und Offenheit gegenüber diversen Musikformen, begann der Erfolg bei einem kleinen, aber enthusiastischen Publikum in verschiedenen Pubs und Clubs Süd- Londons. Der Durchbruch kam als ihnen der feste Auftritt Donnerstagnacht in Londons berühmtem Marquee-Club in der Wardour Street, Soho, angeboten wurde. Die frühen „Jethro Tull“ veröffentlichten ihr erstes Blues-orientiertes Album, This Was , in den späten 1968igern, um sich dann mit mehr Eigenständigkeit und eklektischen Anstrengungen mit der Veröffentlichung von ,Stand UP , und einer Menge von Single-Veröffentlichungen, eingeschlossen… Living In The Past, auf dem UK Markt nach oben zu bewegen. Benefit, Aqualang und Thick As A Brick, folgten und der Erfolg der Band wurde international. Verschiedene Bandmitglieder kamen und gingen, aber der charismatische Frontmann und Komponist, Flötist und Sänger, Ian Anderson machte weiter, bis heute, die Band kontinuierlich durch ihre veschiedenen, musikalischen „Inkarnationen“ zu leiten. Jethro Tull war, Mitte der Siebziger, einer der erfolgreichsten Live-Acts weltweit, rivalisierend Zeppelin, Elton John und sogar die Rolling Stones. Wirklich überraschend für eine Band, deren hochgestochene und entfaltete, stilistische Extravaganz weit entfernt war von der Rock und Pop Norm jener Zeit. Il 14 luglio 2010 Cosmophonies ha completamente riempito le scalinate con fans in composto delirio. Certamente i semi dei Jethro Tull sono stati molti ed anche dopo i gloriosi anni ‘70 -, iniziati due anni prima nel ’68 con This Was e celebrati da Aqualung nel ‘71 -, hanno generato gemme come Catfishrising nel 1991 ma la vera ed autentica produzione geniale si ferma al 1982 con Broadsword and the Beast. L’ultima zampata della Bestia creativa di Ian Anderson & Co. (cambiati nel tempo a parte Martin Barre alla chitarra) è uno splendore come Too Old to rock’n’roll to Young to Die del 1976 con Pied Piper e la title track impossibili da estinguere dalla memoria. Passiamo al concerto: nel caso qualche altro hint (cenno) verrà da sé naturalmente. Il nostro menestrello Ian ha afferrato il suo amico fidato e traverso (il flauto) immediatamente allo scoccare di 20 minuti d’attesa del pubblico, perfettamente in stile british, il gong di via alle 21.50 precise, intonando Nothing is easy da Stand up, il secondo album del 1969, e continuando con Beggar’s Farm dal primo (This was).
