page 89 HOLD ON TO THE NIGHT Homecoming

Homecoming 1992 was an exciting beginning to the school year. Football gave us a victory the night before, so the spirits were high. The senior escorts were Chris Black, Tony Townes, Kris Bugara, Dwight Kress and Chris Rodriguez. The Homecoming Queen was Starre Poindexter and the senior attendant was Leigh Ann Krohe. The other class attendants were junior Dawn Jones, sophomore Tricia Krabill and freshman Jenny Graffice. The other honored seniors escorted across the football field were Tiera Thomas and Toni Slaggy. This was a night of fun sponsored by the Student Senate.

Ambrose Smith runs for a Homecoming victory.

The AHS fall production was good old-fashioned down-home fun. Gos sips, drunks, rednecks, a corpse, a village idiot and a wedding com bined to make for a hi larious evening (No vember 13) and after noon (Nov. 15). Mrs. Holub directed her third AHS production as sisted by Jennifer Fraraccio. Brad Rebh was stage manager.

From April 29 through May 1,1993, Alliance High School presented its first musical in three years and Oliver was well worth the wait. Based on the story of Oliver Twist, it is the tale of an orphan who escapes his temporary home in a funeral parlor and gets a taste of the wild life on the streets of London. He later discovers that some relatives of his mother are still alive, and lives happily ever after with his long lost family. Mr. Rosenthal and Mrs. VanHorne served as directors of the musical. Though their job was not easy, with a cast full of singing and acting talent, as well as dedication and hard work, it was impossible for this production to be anything but one of the best.

First-year head wrestling coach Frank Mancini knew his young team was facing a tough '92-93 season and he insisted that his squad of mostly underclassmen had to "pay their dues." Senior Darren Peloso qualified for the state championship meet, was named to the first Stark County team and was on the Federal League second team. Sophomore Rod Steed finished the Federal League season undefeated, winning all of his matches by pins (a school record) and was named to the league's first team. Juniors Chris Gaul and Austin French and sophomore Derek Oney were Federal League honorable mentions.
