Williamstown Williamstown 3016 clinched a home final by defeating Port Melbourne in Round 20 by 42 points Ph: (03) 9390-0611 and halted the “Burras” 21 game winning streak at TEAC Oval. The Northern Fax: (03) 9390-0644 Bullants defeated Frankston by 84 points and thus their increased percentage E: [email protected] saw them leap frog Port Melbourne into third place. Williamstown met the Northern Bullants in Round 9 at Visy Park and the Bullants had a convincing 35 point victory. The Bullants finished with a 12—6 win/loss ratio and they have won 6 of their last 7 games with victories over the top team North Ballarat, Bendigo Bombers, Collingwood, Geelong, Coburg and Frankston and their only loss to Port Melbourne by 47 points in Round 17. Williamstown will compete in its fourth consecutive finals series but has qualified in its highest position (second) since its Premiership year of 2003. In 2006 (fourth), 2007 (fourth) and 2008 (third) Williamstown did not finish high enough and had to play qualifying finals away at Preston, Sandringham and North Ballarat. Williamstown will also have the advantage of their aligned partner the Western Bulldogs qualified in third spot in the AFL and with a double chance. The Bulldogs will welcome back Ryan Griffen and Ben Hudson this week and will only have Tom Williams unavailable from their list of 45 players. The Williamstown VFL list is also healthy with Matthew Little, Cameron Lockwood, Dane Rampe, Chris Egan, Josh Young and David Sablich returning from injury over the last 2—3 weeks to strengthen the depth of talent available.
