Reger Read, comment, and order all booklets at hhbkt.com 3 Preface Much of the material embodied in this little history of Warblington has been taken from a book called The Hundred of Bosmere (comprising the Parishes of Havant, Warblington, and Hayling Island). Original copies are now very scarce [it has been re-printed and is also available to read on the web]. It was published in 1817 by the Havant Press, and, though anonymous, is well-known to have been written by Mr Walter Butler, Solicitor, of Havant, who combined a profound knowledge of the records of this part of the County of Hampshire with much patience in research. We have to express our thanks to the proprietors of the Hampshire Telegraph and the Portsmouth Times for permission to use several extracts from articles on the County which appeared in those papers some years since; and to Mrs Jewell, of Emsworth, in this Parish, for information which her great age and most retentive memory have enabled her, most kindly, to place at our service. -

AL advised that she had chaired the Board since its inception, some seven years previously, and advised that she would be giving this up at the end of the year. AL gave a brief update on LEPs in general, and advised that 16 LEPs had been considered good, with some of the 16 being considered exceptional and that she was pleased to advise that SEMLEP was one of the exceptional LEPs. It is the SEMLEP Board’s intention to be exceptional in everything by the end of the year. -

Proposed Submission Settlements and Countryside Local Plan Part 2
Foreword The Daventry District Settlements and Countryside Local Plan (Part 2) is a key document that will help to shape the future of the District. When this document is adopted, it will sit alongside the West Northamptonshire Joint Core Strategy (Adopted 2014) and made Neighbourhood Development Plans. These will collectively be the basis for helping to guide and shape the development and use of land across the District. This document is therefore very important for helping to shape the future of the District. This document is the Proposed Submission Version, which builds on the Issues and Options and Emerging Draft consultations undertaken in early 2016 and late 2017. We are grateful to everyone who responded to those consultations, your views have been taken into account in preparing this plan. This plan is based on a thorough evidence base which is set out on the Council’s website. Further details of the consultation are set out within the document including how you can respond, it is important to note that comments must relate to legal compliance and the tests of soundness and be made on the prescribed response form. The consultation also includes a series of exhibitions taking place in early September which you are encouraged to attend. Following consultation on this document, the Council will then consider the responses received before submitting the plan, the responses and other supporting information. This will be undertaken by an Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State. Adoption is anticipated to take place in summer 2019. We look forward to your participation. An Alphabetical List, with Descriptions, of the Low Side Windows of Hampshire Churches
148 AN ALPHABETICAL LIST, WITH DESCRIPTIONS, OF THE LOW SIDE WINDOWS OF HAMPSHIRE CHURCHES. BY ARTHUR ROBERT GREEN. The photographs, sketches, and sections are all by the writer; the latter are not drawn to any.scale. Bedhampton.—St. Thomas' Church seems to have had its south chancel wall rebuilt in the XIIIth century, and the photo- graph shows an interesting collection of windows on each side of a buttress, which marks the junction of the chancel and the nave. The window to the east is a XIIIth century square-headed opening of two shouldered lights, and next to this is a square- headed low side window. At the east end of the south wall of the nave are two lights, set one over the other. The upper has a square head, and has been inserted probably to light the rood-loft, and the lower, which has a pointed head and segmental rear-arch, probably lighted the south nave altar. Rectangular L.S.W. at south-west of chancel. Exterior. I Height, 36 inches. Width, 14^ inches. Distance above ground course, 16 . inches. Distance above the ground, 27 inches. Interior. Height, 36 inches. Width, 16J inches. Whole width, including. splays, 34 inches. Distance from chancel arch, 3j inches. Sill, flat, and 27$ inches deep, and / 23J inches above the floor level, which has been raised slightly. Now filled with modern glass. X7J- No shutter, grating, or fastenings. * . •« •* A small rebate on each side, against which the present glass fits. The altar could not be seen from the outside. /c^j, Bramdean.—This church has been much restored, and on the south side a large, modern transept, and a vestry to the east of it, have been added. -

The project was commissioned by Mr Henry Venners of The John Phillips Planning Consultancy, Bagley Court, Hinksey Hill, Oxford, OX1 5BS on behalf of Linfield Ltd and comprises the first stage of a process to determine the presence/absence, extent, character, quality and date of any archaeological remains which may be affected by redevelopment of the area. -

A HISTORY OF OUR CHURCH Welcome to our beautiful little church, named after St Botolph*, the 7th century patron saint of wayfarers who founded many churches in the East of England. The present church on this site was built in 1263 in the Early English style. This was at the request and expense of Sir William de Thorpe, whose family later built Longthorpe Tower. At first a chapel in the parish of St John it was consecrated as a church in 1850. The church has been well used and much loved for over 750 years. It is noted for its stone, brass and stained glass memorials to men killed in World War One, to members of the St John and Strong families of Thorpe Hall and to faithful members of the congregation. Present :- Councillors Mrs A E Edwards Mrs P M Hughes Mr W T Gracey Mr P D A Hignell Mr R A Knight Mr A J Weaver Mr M L Foulger (Chairman & Acting Clerk) 1 Apologies for Absence - District Councillors Mrs G M Murdin; Mr H Binder & Mr D C Lawson. because they had a Full Council Meeting at Thrapston. 2 Minutes of Previous Meeting - The Minutes of the previous meeting held on Monday, 14th November 1994, having previously been circulated, were confirmed as being correct and signed by Cllr Mrs P M Hughes. 3 Matters Arising from previous Minutes 3.1 Street Cleansing - Mr Foulger wrote a further letter to Mr Walker on 16th November concerning the still absent litter pickers and has heard nothing to date. It was reported that the brook in Water Lane had been cleared of misc. drums and other debris on 3/1/95. 3.2 Highway Matters - It was hoped to have a walk round the village with John Murray soon, with particular regard to footpaths breaking up. The footpath outside the ex-shop was mentioned, as well as one in Caldecott from Church to Wise End Corner. Also mentioned were moss covered footpaths in Duchy Close and overhanging hedges on the RAF to Newton Bromswold road and in in Bidwell, opposite the farms. 3.3 Hillside Hedges - No further action. - the matter to be chased again. -
