Town_Parish_Council No Neighbourhood_Name Audlem Neighbourhood_Area_Description Audlem is a large village located at the very southern point of Cheshire East Unitary Authority, bordering onto Shropshire to the south and west and close to Staffordshire to the east. It had a population of 1991 in the 2011 census. The village, mentioned in the Domesday Book as Aldelime and granted a market charter in 1295, is dominated by the 13th century St James’ Church in the village centre. It is a predominantly agricultural area, surrounded by actively worked farms supported by a number of local agricultural contractor businesses. The village is on the Shropshire Union Canal which encourages tourism in the form of canal boat users and many other visitors to the Wharf, the thriving local shops and pleasant walks in the neighbourhood. There is a local School, a Public Hall, three Churches and many active community groups providing both support and community interest groups for all ages. Neighbourhood_Area_Appropriate Audlem is a well defined, historic village which includes three Conservation areas – the centre of the village, Salford to the east and Cox Bank, a hamlet slightly to the south of the village centre. The village is identified as a Local Service Centre in the Cheshire East Council Local Plan and, as such has specific housing numbers required over the next 20 years. Residents have already produced two Parish Plans, firstly in 2005 and again in 2010. In addition, a Village Design Statement and Landscape Character Assessment, which focused on the area within the Audlem Parish boundary, was produced in 2008 and revised in December 2011. These documents will help inform the production of a Neighbourhood Plan. A Parish Newsletter and a website, Audlem OnLine, already exist which will facilitate communication. The land relates to a section of open paddock adjacent to a large fishing pond set approximately 150 metres to the south of the road. Currently on site is an unauthorised touring caravan which appears to be being used as a makeshift ‘fisherman’s hut’. DETAILS OF PROPOSAL Revised plans have been submitted for the erection of a purpose built fisherman’s hut. The proposed unit would measure approximately 6.6 metres in length, 5 metres in width and would have a pitched roof approximately 4.1 metres in height from ground floor level.

Alternatively, park on grass verge approx 400 yds in Nantwich direction. Then you may access ON FOOT via Private Road. NO vehicles allowed down the lane. This option offers easier access for those less able, as there is a slope with handrail to the towpath by Bridge 83. Parking also available on Western side of Bridge 86, Hack Green. NO ACCESS FOR ANGLERS via Overwater Marina. DETAILS Fishing is from Bridge 80 (Overwater Marina) to Bridge 86, Hack Green, towards Nantwich. Parking at Bridge 82 is ‘central’ to the lengths. Note that there is no road access at Bridge 80 or 84. Favoured pegs are near to the ‘broken railway bridge’ between Bridges 82 and 83. Be aware of other towpath users eg. Cyclists, walkers. There is also a room where the magisterial business is condueteda which is small and inconvenient, but is expected to be enlarged before the expiration of the year 1849. A residence adjoins, for the use of the Special High Constable, now Mr. Charles Laxton. THE THEATRE, a small structure, has been taken down about ten years. THE ExcisE OFFICE is at the Lamb Inn, Hospital street. This inn is much frequented by the farmers on the market-day. There is an excellent bowling-green connected with the Bowling-Green Tavern, situate in Monks lane. The Salt Water Baths are sitnate on Snow Hill; Mr. Thomas Townley, proprietor. THE UNION HousE, situated upon Beam Heath, is a. spacious brick building, erected for the accommodation of 350 inmates. The Union comprises uo less than eighty-six parishes and townships, for which ninety-three guardians are chosen, who meet at the Board-room for the transaction of business.
