Lane Cove West Public School August 08, 2019 Fortnightly Chat Term 3, Week 3 Book Week Coming Up On Monday August 19 Book Week begins and we are celebrating with a -K 2 book parade. Students are encouraged to come to school dressed as a character from a book and will perform a short parade at school at 9.45am. Parents are welcome to stay and watch if they are free. Athletics Carnival A reminder that the K-6 Athletics Carnival will now be held on Tuesday 20 August. Students meet their teachers on the school oval for roll call at 9.25am with buses departing for Rotary Athletics Field, Mowbray Road, Lane Cove North, at 9.30am sharp. Students will return to school by bus at approximately 2.30pm. If you want your child to go home with another parent, a signed note must be brought in to school on the day. All students should wear their school sports uniform (added house colours can be worn) and make sure they bring along: warm jumper, rain jacket, water bottle, recess, lunch, hat, sunscreen and sensible running shoes. The theme this year is ‘Destination Moon’. Hands-on science activities will be organised for children to participate in, including workshops run by teachers and parent volunteers. A note went out recently to all families with more information and an expression of interest for parent volunteers. Upcoming School Tour Dates and Information for 2019 Kindergarten Enrolments: This term we will host two school tours and information sessions for families of children enrolling in Kindergarten for 2020. The tour is for parents only, do not bring children with you. The remaining tour date for 2020 enrolments is: Wednesday 21 August-9.45am-11.00am If you have a child who will be commencing school next year, please come to the office to collect an enrolment package or download an enrolment application form from the school website to ensure you receive all relevant information. Please also let any neighbours or local Lane Cove West residents know that the time to enrol is now. Kindergarten Orientation will be in Term 4. Picking children up from school early If you are picking your child up from school early, please come to the office to sign your child out before going to the class. When you come to the office, you will be printed out a slip of paper that needs to be signed and handed to the teacher. Sports lessons– Coach Brown Please be mindful that Coach Brown’s classroom is the school oval and teaching continues until school ends at 3.25pm. We would appreciate parents keeping their younger children away from the teaching space and sporting equipment. Please keep a reasonable distance from the class if you are walking past so that the children’s learning can continue without interruption.
