Background Seán Lester was born in Carrickfergus, Co. Antrim in 1888 and educated at Methodist College, Belfast. During his early career as a journalist he wrote for many titles including the Portadown Express, County Down Spectator, Connacht Tribune, Dublin Evening Mail and The Freeman’s Journal.
