The geological formation of Archaen group in this region classified as sausar series. The sausar series covers geological formation in Raipur-Durg, Bilaspur- Balaghat, Nagpur-Bhandara, Nagpur-Chhindwara, Jabalpur area etc. in the sausar series the Dolomite formation in this region is covered under Lohangi stage the sequence is as under: CES, Bhopal 1 M/s Bhagchand Sancheti Exe. Summary Dulhapur Dolomite Mine, 7.75 ha Chorbaoli Stage-Quartzites, quartz-muscovite and felspathic quartz-schist, occasionally garnetiferous, sillimanite and kyanite in place, also autoclastic quartz conglomerates. Widespread except in the Central part of the belt. 2.1.1 Local Geology Locally the following lithological sequence is met with in the Dulhapur, in descending order which are as follows:- The geological formations available in te area are:- 1. Soil 2. Dolomite Soil: - There is a capping of soil over Dolomite Formation in the area. The soil is pale brawn in colour. The average thickness of soil is considered to be about 1m on the basis experience so far Dolomite:- his formation has un-worked area under Mining lease N-E to S-W with angle of dip varying from 30 to 38 degrees Dolomite is crystalline, white and grayish in colour vitreous lusture with medium to coarse granted texture. Thus present mining operations being carried out manually by open cast mining method. Though the use of explosive is proposed but after removing capping of Sometime excavator with tipper combination is being used for excavation and loading of mineral in to truck dumper. Loading of mineral in to truck dumper is being done manually, some time using machinery (excavator with tipper combination) hand tools such as spades, hammer, crowbar, and chisels etc. are also being used for mining purpose. 3.1 Mining Method The activities involved in the mining are: 1) Ground preparation 2) Drilling 3) Blasting 4) Loading and unloading of mineral / overburden 5) Transportation Mining will be done by manually using hand tools like crowbars, spades, chisels and hammer adopted for sorting, sizing & loading. Drilling & blasting will be done only for removing the capping of Manganese Loading and un-loading is done manually. Loading O.M.S. = 10t Max load = 10m Max lift = 5m Sharping and tempering of tools clearing the area of loose boulders, maintaining the quarry road, plantation and watering the sapling for afforestation will be done by casual labour under CES, Bhopal 3 M/s Bhagchand Sancheti Exe. Summary Dulhapur Dolomite Mine, 7.75 ha mate /foreman supervision. Haulage of O.B. and murrum up to the stacking site will be done by head using cane baskets. Loading will be done manually by head load using cane baskets. 3.2 Drilling & Blasting Broad Blasting Parameters are given below: Burden : 750 mm Spacing : 700 mm Depth of drill hole : 750 mm Diameter of blast holes : 30-35mm 3.3 Storage of Explosive No storage of explosive is required as the blasting shall be carried out occasionally by the out side agencies, which are approved by regulatory authorities. 3.4 Blasting Parameters Storage, handling of explosive & blasting is strictly carried out as per the guidelines of Explosive Act and provision of MMR 1961 and special permissions obtained from DGMS which also ensure safety of workers and material along with control of noise and ground vibration. Every month the number of holes required to be drilled depends upon the production of Dolomite in that particular year. However, each hole the parameter as above should yield about 0.75m x 0.7m x 0.7m = 0.367 cum of Dolomite. 4.0 Disposal of Mine Waste No subgrade mineral was generated in the past mining. Hence it is anticipated that no sub grade will be there during the proposed mining hence disposal of sub grade is not estimated. During the proposed mining the waste produced consists of some quantity of soil & country rocks. The waste shall be dumped in the non mineralization area and shall be used for reclamation of exits pits then and there. 5.0 Resource Requirement CES, Bhopal 4 M/s Bhagchand Sancheti Exe. Summary Dulhapur Dolomite Mine, 7.75 ha The present proposal is of proposed mining activity at mining lease area of 7.75 ha villages Dulhapur, Tehsil Katangi Dist Balaghat (M. P.). For efficient operation of the mines all necessary utilities will be made available, a brief description of the same is given below. a) Storage Facility It is proposed to provide adequate storage facilities for the excavated mineral, and waste, which is generated/ used during mining process. Proposed excavated minerals will be kept in the existing mining lease area and the waste will be utilized for reclamation purpose. b) Water Supply The total fresh water need is about 7.0 kilo liters per day for domestic and mining purpose. This water will be taken from out side village bore wall as well as accumulated rain water from existing mine pits. The details of water balance of existing / proposed mining project are given below: Table 2.0 Water Balance of Mining Project Process Total a) Mine site Dust Suppression 4.0 kld Green Belt 1.5 kld b) Domestic Drinking & Washing 1.5 kld Total (A+B) 7.0 kld c) Transport The lease area is located in the Jurisdiction of village Dulhapur, which is at a distance of about 125 km from Nagpur, via Khawasha,- Piparwani- Sitapathore on Khawasha- Tirodi tar road and a bifurcation from Sitapathor to the area about 8 km of katcha road. The existing road network shall be used for transportation of material. d) Employment Potential CES, Bhopal 5 M/s Bhagchand Sancheti Exe. Summary Dulhapur Dolomite Mine, 7.75 ha The mining establishment presents opportunities of employment to various posts under various cedars viz. management, supervisory, skilled workmen, semi skilled workmen and unskilled workmen beside casual workmen. 1. Permit Manager 1 2. Supervisor 2 3. Skilled Labour 10 4. Semi Skilled 15 5. Unskilled Labour 25 e) Labour welfare activities Mine has provided appropriate rest center for its employees at the mining site. Proper facilities for working, water, first aid and other safety appliances shall be suitably provided. 6.0 Reason for Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) The impact of mine on the environment depends to a large extent on its location with respect to Human settlements, meteorological conditions, ambient air quality, water bodies, agricultural and forest land etc. Most of the adverse impacts of mines are amenable to technological control by providing necessary preventive and control measures and finally through effective environmental management of the operating mines. Keeping in view the likely impacts of mines on environment, this Rapid Environment Impact Assessment Report has been prepared for submission to State Pollution Control Board and Ministry for Environment and Forests (MoEF) for clearance of the mining area in operation. Table-3.0 Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Stations Stations Location Direction Distance A-01 Mine Site - - A-02 Dulhapur Village E 1.6 km A-03 Koilari Village NW 4.2 km A-04 Seetapathore SE 6.0 km A-05 Agri W 8.0 km A-06 Chandadoh SW 7.2 km 7.0 Environment Management Plan The mining development in the study area needs to be intertwined with judicious utilization of non renewable resource of the study area and within the limit of permissible assimilative capacity.
