Birds of Montana - Taxonomic List - 2013 Rare Birds are Highlighted The following list of Montana birds is organized taxonomically (follow the seventh edition of the Check-list of North American Birds (AOU 1998) and all supplements to the check-list published through 2011 (AOU 2011). An alphabetic list of birds appears on page 4. This list was developed for individuals recording birds through the Montana Bird Distribution project. Because we need you to record bird names accurately in the quarter- quarter latilong (QQLL) spreadsheet, we want you to have an official bird list (so you can check the official spelling easily). The birds that are highlighted (orange in color and italicized) on the list require additional information to be gathered. These birds are species that are of conservation concern or considered rare within the state. This list can also be downloaded at <http://www.mtaudubon.org/birds/distribution.html> Geese/Ducks/Swans Common Merganser Herons and Allies Greater White-fronted Goose Red-breasted Merganser American
