CHAPTER III SELECTED HOSPITALS IN AHMEDNAGAR DISTRICT 3.1 Introduction In this chapter an earnest attempt is made by researcher to compile and present an overview of the private hospitals in Ahmednagar district which have been selected for the present study. The selection of hospitals is already been discussed in the earlier chapter where in it has been deliberated that those private hospitals having bed size of more than 100 beds and which have been operating for more than 10 years are selected. The reason for selecting these hospitals basically lies in the premise that these hospitals have been revered as the best private hospitals in the district. The profile of 10 hospitals in terms of their establishment year, vision, mission, organizational structure, departments, facilities is been discussed. 3.2 Pravara Medical Hospital, Loni Pravara Medical Hospital owing its allegiance to Pravara Medical trust hereafter referred as (PMT) is a comprehensive Medical and Health Care center catering to Primary to Tertiary Care. The trust started providing primary and secondary level medical care in 1976 with a reticent hospital of 100 beds. Responding to the need of the area, gradually, the hospital grew into an 800 bed multi-disciplinary, super-specialty medical institute along with the other ancillary facilities. Hospital provides urbane diagnostic and therapeutic facilities. Spacious OPD & diagnostic departments and in patient wards are available with expert medical and paramedical teams. The hospital assists State and Central governments in implementing the National Health Programmes, like Revised National Tuberculosis Control Program & National AIDS control Program. Mumbai. The bill banning cow slaughter in Maharashtra, pending for several years, finally received the President's assent, which means red meat lovers in the state will have to do without beef. This measure has taken almost twenty years to materialize and was initiated during the previous Sena-BJP Government. The bill was first submitted to the President for approval on January 30, 1996.. However, subsequent Governments at the Centre, including the BJP led NDA stalled it and did not seek the President’s consent. A delegation of seven state BJP MPs led by Kirit Somaiya, (MP from Mumbai North) had met the President in New Delhi recently and submitted a memorandum seeking assent to the bill. The memorandum said that the Maharashtra Animal Preservation (Amendment) Bill, 1995, passed during the previous Shiv Sena-BJP regime, was pending for approval for 19 years. The law will ban beef from the slaughter of bulls and bullocks, which was previously allowed based on a fit- for-slaughter certificate. The new Act will, however, allow the slaughter of water buffaloes. The punishment for the sale of beef or possession of it could be prison for five years with an additional fine of Rs 10,000. It is notable that, Reuters new service had earlier reported that Hindu nationalists in India had stepped up attacks on the country's beef industry, seizing trucks with cattle bound for abattoirs and blockading meat processing plants in a bid to halt the trade in the world's second-biggest exporter of beef. -

Philosophy Study, April 2016, Vol. 6, No. 4, 219-229 doi: 10.17265/2159-5313/2016.04.005 D DAVID PUBLISHING Matter (Pudgalastikaya or Pudgala) in Jain Philosophy Narayan Lal Kachhara Deemed University Pudgalastikaya is one of the six constituent dravyas of loka in Jainism and is the only substance that is sense perceptible. The sense attributes of pudgala are colour, taste, smell, and touch properties which become the basis of its diversity of forms and structures. The smallest constituent of pudgala is paramanu; the other forms are its combinations. The combination of parmanus forms various states of the matter. The paper describes different types of combinations and modes, rules for combinations and properties of aggregates known as vargana. Some varganas associate with the soul and form various types of bodies of organisms and others exist as forms of matter in loka (universe). The paramanu defines the smallest units of energy, space, time, and sense quality of pudgala. Pudgala exists in visible and invisible forms but anything that is visible is definitely pudgala. Pudgala is classified in various ways; one of them is on the basis of touch property and there are pudgalas having two touches, four touches, and eight touches, each class having some specific character that differentiates them in respect of stability and motion. Pudgala is also classified as living, prayoga-parinat, and non-living, visrasa-parinat. The living matter existing as bodies of organisms exhibits some properties that are not found in non-living matter. Modern science has no such distinction which has become a cause of confusion in recognizing the existence of soul. -

Volume : 79 Issue No. : 79 Month : February, 2007 TEMPLES SUPREME COURT ORDERS HANDING OVER KESARIAJI TEMPLE TO JAIN SAMAJ BUT LOCAL ADIVASIS OPPOSE Accepting the repeated appeals by the Jain community, The Hon'ble Supreme Court, after a long period of 33 years, has reiterated its earlier decision that the Jain temple at Shri Kesariaji, near Udaipur in Rajasthan, which was being controlled by the Devasthan Department of the Government of Rajasthan be handed over back to Jain samaj. The Court Has accepted the contention of Jains that the temple belonged to them only and not to Hindus or any other community. However, it did not specify as to which sect, the temple should be handed over. This decision has been left to the Government of Rajasthan, saying that the State Government may settle this impending controversy between the two sects, Shwetambar and Digambar. The decision was announced by double bench of Supreme Court, consisting of Hon'ble Mr. Justice S. B. Sinha and Mr. Justice Markendey Katju. on the 4th January, 2007. The announcement made by the Supreme Court has however sparked off agitation amongst the local adivasi poulation and they have adopted a damaging attitude. Looking at the adverse situation, the local authorities, deputed a large contingent of police to control the situation and protect the temple premises, but the adivasi group, occupying a near-by hillock, started pelting stones on the police, which resulted in death of one and injury to several policemen. Few adivasis have also been injured. Observing the still worsening situation, the authorities have alerted the army to keep ready, if called in for helping police. -

Considered auspicious and sacred, it is observed to deepen the awareness as a physical being in conjunction with spiritual observations Generally, Paryushan Parva falls in the month of September. In Jainisim, fasting is considered as a spiritual activity, that purify our souls, improve morality, spiritual power, increase knowledge and strengthen relationships. The purpose is to purify our souls by staying closer to our own souls, looking at our faults and asking for forgiveness for the mistakes and taking vows to minimize our faults. Also a time when Jains will review their action towards their animals, environment and every kind of soul. Paryashan Parva is an annual, sacred religious festivals of the Jains. It is celebrated with fasting reading of scriptures, observing silence etc preferably under the guidance of monks in temples Strict fasting where one has to completely abstain from food and even water is observed for a week or more. Depending upon one's capability, complete fasting spans between 8-31 days. Religious and spiritual discourses are held where tales of Lord Mahavira are narrated. The Namokar Mantra is chanted everyday. Forgiveness in as important aspect of the celebration. At the end of Fasting, al will ask for forgiveness for any violence or wrong- doings they may have imposed previous year. -

Namo Siddhanam I bow in veneration to Siddhas. (The souls that are perfect through the destruction of the Karmas.) Namo Ayariyanam I bow in veneration to Acharyas (The Head Sadhus of the four- fold Jain Sangh). Namo Uvajjhayanam I bow in veneration to Upadhyayas (The learned Sadhus who illustrate the Scriptures). Namo loye savva sahunam I bow in veneration to all Sadhus in the world. (Those who are pursuing the path of Moksha or salvation.) Eso pancha namukkaro Savva pävappanäsano Mangalänam cha savvesim Padhamam havai mangalam This five-fold salutation destroys all sins and is the most auspicious one amongst all auspicious things.
