Den här gången var det pandemin till följd av spridningen av covid-19 som medförde att all ishockey på nationell nivå helt ställdes in den 15 mars. Några veckor senare ställdes de internationella världsmästerskapen också in. Ett oväntat och drastiskt slut på en säsong som innan dess kantats av så mycket positivt värt att lyfta fram.

    HEDERSPRISER SÄSONGEN 2017/2018 ANTON CUP HV 71 Av Anton Johanson, Ishockeyförbundets ordförande åren 1924-48, skänkt vandringspris instiftat 1952 till främjande av svensk ungdomsishockey. Åren 1953-1956 var Anton Cup en rikstävling utan SM-status för seniorlag. Åren 1957- 1961 var Anton Cup en JSM-tävling för distrikts- och klubblag. Sedan 1962 har enbart klubblag spelat i om JSM i Anton Cup. Priset är ständigt vandrande och tilldelas vinnande lag i JSM. TV-PUCKEN Skåne Av Sveriges Radio uppsatt vandringspris. Priset instiftades 1959. GULDPUCKEN William Karlsson, Vegas Golden Knights Expressens och Svenska Ishockeyförbundets hederspris Guldpucken har delats ut till svensk hockeys bästa spelare sedan 1956. Inför säsongen 2014/2015 justerades reglerna och det gjordes möjligt även för spelare i utländska ligor att vinna priset. Detta för att det verkligen skulle tillfalla Sveriges bästa spelare. Nu har den fjärde vinnaren under det regelverket korats: Vegas Golden Knights stjärna William Karlsson. Juryns motivering: "Ännu ett svenskt VM-guld när Tre Kronor för andra året i rad fixade guldmedaljerna, tre svenska spelare vann Stanley Cup med Washington Capitals och i SHL förbluffade junioren Elias Pettersson oss alla med sin rekordsäsong. Svensk hockey fortsätter rada upp fina framgångar. Men i hård konkurrens var det ändå en spelare som utmärkte sig mer än alla andra säsongen 2017/18. När Las Vegas fick ett NHL-lag inför säsongen så fick staden också en svensk publikfavorit och en ny superstjärna i NHL. Värvningen av William Karlsson var högsta vinsten för Vegas. Alexander Ovetjkin och Patrik Laine var de enda spelare i ligan som gjorde fler mål än Karlsson under grundserien.
