What: Champions Day is a Free Golf event featuring Stewart Cink, the 2009 British Open winner. Stewart will be spending the afternoon with residents from The Villages in a clinic presentation, as well as signing autographs and answering questions, and competing against 4 lucky residents in a putting challenge. In addition, participants will have an opportunity to demo clubs and products from Stewart’s corporate sponsor - NIKE.

Where: Glenview Champions Country Club (All participants are encouraged to take their golf carts due to limited parking)

 This is a FREE event!  To attend you must REGISTER ONLINE at www.golfthevillages.com.  After registering you will need to PRINT a certificate, which serves as your ticket. Bring your certificate with you on March 23 to The Glenview Country Club.  In addition to being your ticket for admission to this limited audience, your name will be added to a drawing for chances to be 1 of 2 participants chosen to participate in a “Putt Off” challenge with Stewart at the conclusion of the clinic and afternoon.  There are hitting bays available for you to use to test drive golf Nike equipment. 2 more names will be drawn to participate in the putting challenge from those participants who demo the equipment on the demo day driving range.  There is a 10% discount on all clubs purchased at the Champions Day – Stewart Cink sponsored by NIKE. Plus, check with Demo Day personnel to see what clubs are eligible for the NIKE signing bonus program.  Participants will find some great deals on NIKE shoes and hats at the event.  Those participants who buy $500 + of equipment receive a free golf certificate for every $500. (Some restrictions apply, see shop for details)  Tri-County Junior Golf will be selling water, soda and snacks with proceeds going to Tri-County Junior Golf.

Biography

Cink grew up in Florence, Alabama, where he attended Bradshaw High School. After completing high school in 1991, Stewart attended , where he played golf for the Yellow Jackets and turned pro in 1995.

After winning the and three events on the Nike Tour (now the Nationwide Tour) in 1996, Cink joined the PGA Tour in 1997 and won the Cannon Greater Hartford Open in his rookie season. Cink performed consistently on the Tour over the next few years, picking up another win at the 2000 MCI Classic. 2004 was his most successful season, with a 5th place finish on the money list – including wins at the MCI Heritage and the WGC-NEC Invitational. On February 24, 2008, Cink was the runner-up in the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship in Marana, Arizona, falling 8 & 7 in the 36-hole final to top- ranked . In June 2008, he reached his highest ever world ranking - 6th - in the Official World Golf Rankings with his victory at the in suburban Hartford.

In 2009 he won his first career major with a victory over 59-year old in at the 138th Open Championship at , Scotland. Stewart defeated Watson by six strokes in a four-hole playoff. Cink birdied the 72nd hole whereas Watson bogeyed it, which forced the playoff.
