Established in 1994, the Community Foundation builds community assets for perpetuity. The Community Foundation is entrusted with substantial amounts of money over time from the contributions of people of all walks of life. The Community Foundation uses the income from these funds, in the form of grants, to meet the community’s charitable needs now and into the future. Most of the funds at the Community Foundation are endowed funds -- community permanent funds that create a sustainable flow of grant dollars forever. Personnel 51 Confirmed in Compliance with National Standards for U.S. Community Foundations ~ 2 ~ legacy philanthropy As we work with families, individuals, businesses and nonprofits to grow legacy philanthropy, our fund advisors and fund donors continue to be generous. During this past year:

• The Community Foundation proudly awarded $1.5 million to the community—a slight increase from last year. Our fund advisors awarded 383 grants and 157 scholarships.

• The average grant size increased to $3,300.

• 4,062 charitable donors contributed $7.7 million to our family of funds. u This is a 33% increase in the number of donors compared to last year. u This is a 104% increase in donations compared to last year.

• Our donors created 26 new funds this year, a 65% increase over last year. This brings the total number of funds under the Community Foundation’s umbrella to 365.

How do we explain such increases? We know that many Chester County residents have abundant resources, a great deal of generosity, and significant community involvement. Arts, culture, education, human services, health care, and religion are important to the fabric of our community.

We also attribute our substantial growth over the past year to the Foundation’s enhanced ability to handle complex gifts; especially planned gifts. The Community Foundation has evolved institutionally into a charitable organization that provides easy, tax-effective, customized solutions for complex philanthropic estate planning situations.

Each of the Community Foundation’s major gifts received in the past year have been related to planned giving and estate planning. In most cases, professional advisors (estate planning attorney, accountant, financial planner, and/or investment manager) sought charitable options on behalf of their clients. The Community Foundation provides solutions they need.

In the pages of this annual report, we highlight the professional advisor-client-community foundation relationship. Connecting people who care with causes that matter, We invite you to delve in and learn how the Community Foundation makes legacy philanthropy win-win-win. There are a myriad of ways the Community Foundation helps professional advisors find solutions, to help fulfill so their philanthropy makes a difference the individuals’ dreams of giving back to the community, for now and forever.

Let your legacy enrich lives in Chester County and beyond. For Good. Forever.
