The Greater Charlotte Hot Stove League places athletics, academics and character as very important components in the selection process. We strongly believe 100% in the Student-Athlete concept and the building of well-balanced student-athletes. Many awards are restricted to high school seniors only.

Each finalist chosen should be considered as a winner. They have risen to the top of their chosen sport and displayed the work ethic needed to become the very best they can possibly be. Many will go on to college and professional playing careers while others will become the leaders of tomorrow with outstanding aca- demic resumes. South Charlotte Sports Report President Tripp Roakes is building a 12U Baseball Team to compete in the nationally known Cooperstown Dreams Park Baseball Tournament the week of July 25, 2015. The Cooperstown Dreams Park event is known as the “Greatest Tournament in America” as it pro- motes a high caliber of play for players twelve years and un- der. Participants experience the purity of baseball as it was meant to be played at the 22 field complex located in Cooper- stown, NY. There are two remaining spots available on the team for players and families with the desire to experience this amazing baseball opportunity. Beginning with the opening ceremony, you can feel the energy and excitement of the cultural exchange and life enrichment. 104 teams come together each week for pin trading , orientation, eating together, skills competitions, and the excite- ment of the tournament. As the competition builds, all 22 fields coming to life, with home runs, diving catches and heroic saves. This is the beginning of a player’s dream, becoming his own hero. To be inducted into the most prestigious Youth Baseball Hall of Fame, and receiving the coveted Hall of Fame Ring, the highlight of this experience leaves every player with a great sense of pride, dignity and ac- complishment, through the traditional values of faith, family, country and base- ball. “I have been fortunate to be a part of the Cooperstown Dreams Experience the last two years and have found it to be everything players and families could ever hope for inside an amazing week of baseball.” said Tripp Roakes. “Cooper- stown holds a very special place in my heart and I have decided to build a team to compete for the championship at Cooperstown Dreams Park this coming sum- mer. Many outstanding players never have the opportunity to play in Cooper- stown or maybe they want to play a second week this summer in addition to their regular team. We will be building this team with players from across the Caro- linas with the sole intention of competing for one week only in Cooperstown. As Cooperstown Dreams Park founder Lou Presutti is fond of saying, I want kids to Dream Their Dream and Be Their Own Here at Cooperstown Dreams Park with our team.” Families of 12U level players that are interested in becoming a part of this dream should visit www.southcharlottesports.com/Cooperstown to complete the information form and or email Tripp@southcharlotte- sports.com. This is a one–time, one-week team that will come together for an amazing week of baseball at Cooperstown Dreams Park.

Parker is a two time wrestling MVP for the Warriors. He competes in the 106 pound weight class. The son of Greg and Donna Walton has been wrestling since the age of nine and has found great success on the mat. Last season Parker placed 2nd at the State Tournament. He is also a two-time MVP of his high school team.”

Parker organized a fund-raiser for his wrestling team to participate in called the Take-Down-A-Thon. The goal of the program is to help raise money that will allow young wrestlers to learn more about the sport and the opportunities available.

“My team and I secured sponsors and pledges at the beginning of the season for the number of takedowns we score during the season and the proceeds at the end will go to the new youth wrestling program at a local athletic association, WCWAA.”

When not wrestling or working on his project, Parker is an outstanding student with a 4.85 grade point average. He is also a member of the Beta Club and Environmental Club at his school. Away from his studies Parker finds enjoyment in fishing, both freshwater and saltwater.

Queen City Audio, Video and Appliances salutes Parker Walton for his commitment to our community.
