Lennie Petze Profile
LENNIE PETZE A SENIOR LEVEL, RECORD COMPANY EXECUTIVE WITH OVER 50 YEARS EXPERIENCE IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY. SPECIALIZING IN THE ARTIST & REPERTOIRE FIELD WITH OVER 100 GOLD, PLATINUM AND MULTI-PLATINUM AWARDS FOR RECORDING ARTISTS SIGNED AND RECORDS PRODUCED WITH SALES OF OVER 150 MILLION UNITS. SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DISCOVERY OF CYNDI LAUPER AND BOSTON. The Early Years: It's a Friday night in early 1957. Fourteen year old Lennie Petze was excited to be at what was his first high school dance, "A Record Hop." A Disc Jockey was playing the hit 45's of the day. The sound was loud and bouncing off the wooden walls in the Weymouth Massachusetts High School gymnasium. A new sound of guitars, drums, pumping bass and vocals bred energy for all the teenagers anxious to dance, to a sound created by "Rock and Roll" The DJ replayed "Party Doll" by Buddy Knox five times in three hours! He also played "Poor Butterfly" by Charlie Gracie, "Roll Over Beethoven" by Chuck Berry, "Eddie My Love" by The Teen Queens and "I'm Sticking With You" by Jimmy Bowen. Lennie had heard all these songs on Boston radio, but this environment added another dimension of excitement. One that left him longing to create that environment for himself and become a bigger part of it. It was this experience that lead to experimenting with the formation of bands. Teens from the suburbs of Boston, Massachusetts; Weymouth, Quincy and Braintree that called themselves "The Rhythm Rockers", "The Rainbows"", and The Reveleers" kicking off a hugely successful music career lasting over 50 years. -

2008 Erik Axel Karlfeldt Memorial Open Round 3
2008 Erik Axel Karlfeldt Memorial Open Round 3 1. Montgomery Gentry performs this song on Dacin’ with Thunder, an album which claims to be “official music of the professional bull riders.” A cover of this song was performed by Chris Daughtry on the American Idol Season 5: Encores album. In the final episode of the third season of Supernatural, the Winchester brothers sing along to it while driving to New Harmony. Triumph the Insult Comic Dog once quoted its lyrics derisively to the band which introduced it to the world. It preceded “Never Say Goodbye” as a single from a 1987 album, and has been heard as the theme song to Deadliest Catch. Proclaiming that the singer is a “cowboy” who rides on a “steel horse,” FTP, name this song by Bon Jovi, which was meant to be part of a Western theme album. ANSWER: “Wanted Dead or Alive” 2. In its first season, this team was led by center Kamila Vodickova, the team’s first-ever draft pick, and Edna Campbell. This team is currently coached by Brian Agler, who replaced Hall of Famer Anne Donovan this past offseason. In the most recent draft they took Allie Quigley, and they had the first overall pick in the WNBA draft in both 2001 and 2002. They have made it out of the first round of the playoffs only once, in 2004, when they won the championship behind the play of Betty Lennox. Currently it features reigning MVP Lauren Jackson and point guard Sue Bird. FTP name this WNBA team that plays in Key Arena in the Pacific Northwest. -

She's So Unusual
“She’s So Unusual”--Cyndi Lauper (1983) Added to the National Registry: 2018 Essay by Dale Sherman (guest post)* Album cover Original label Back of album When Cyndi Lauper was signed to Portrait Records to do a solo album in Fall 1982, the plans by those at the label for the recording sessions were not that unusual: place the spunky unknown in front of a microphone to sing songs producer Rick Chertoff had collected and be satisfied with a hit single or two. Little did they realize that Cyndi was not some waif-like innocent, unfamiliar with the big, bad world of the music business. Instead, through her determination to make sure her personality and creativity came through in the music, “She’s So Unusual” (released October 1983), would result in four U.S. top ten singles (and a fifth that made the top forty), multiple awards from the recording and video industries, and ultimately produce a legacy of material that has been remixed, reinvented, and interpreted by many fellow artists over the years. Born June 22, 1953 in Brooklyn, Cyndi had already been a professional singer for nearly ten years before beginning work on “She’s So Unusual,” and was quite wise to the inevitable ups and downs that come with making it in the music business. Cyndi’s early years in cover bands meant only long hours with little creative output, and eventually having to spend a long year with a voice coach to regain her four-octave vocal range after damaging her vocal cords by using improper voice technique.
