During the past twelve months, the club has traded well with a profit of $187,057 (2006 – $128,149). Congratulations to all sports for their tremendous efforts this year. I‟m sure all Sporting Chairpersons and Secretaries will have editorials for you to read elsewhere in this report. It is pleasing to see nearly all sports patronising the club. Both the member and his or her sport receive benefits by way of cheaper products and services for the individual member, and the sporting sub-club receives a cash grant from the Club Ltd. In the last financial year, approximately $19,000 was awarded to the sports. Currently, we are experiencing the legacy of the Government‟s non-smoking policy and are working to meet this financial challenge. A new Code of Conduct and dress rules will be implemented in the current Financial Year. Please remember, the facilities of the club are there to be shared by all. Our new caterers Ro‟s and Jo‟s are doing well and can‟t wait until the old kitchen gets a face lift. Check out the bistro menu for their 2 for the price of 1 meals commencing at the conclusion of the pre-Christmas building works. Our Greens Contractor, Peter Neary, still produces the best-manicured greens in NSW and probably Australia. This is very apparent because of all the past and future State events scheduled for Greenlees Park. Our social calendar for the year was very busy and congratulations to Tess for its organisation. Hopefully this year will be even bigger. I urge you to participate in these events that include, Sporting Update Luncheons, Co-Patrons Luncheon, Hockey Parliament House Luncheon, and the list goes on. Probably the most interesting news is that of the building project. At the time of writing this report, the refurbishment has started and will be finished before Christmas. The scope includes but is not limited to, new ceiling tiles throughout, new carpet, tables and chairs to the bistro, lounge and gaming areas, enlargement of the gaming area, moveable partitions, timber venetian blinds, improved bar and bistro counters, new dimmable lighting and a zoned PA system. Our smoking patrons are also being catered for with outdoor facilities including heating for those winter nights. A power point presentation by our architects of the staged building works, will be presented to members at the AGM in February. By then, I trust you will be enjoying the benefits of the pre-Christmas works. The Board wishes to convey its appreciation to our members and guests for your understanding and patience with the dilemmas faced with our aged building, plant and equipment. To all of the clubs sponsors, we thank you sincerely. Your support to all the various sports is received with gratitude, and I trust you are rewarded accordingly. To all the staff, thank you very much for all of your hard work. A big thank you to my fellow Directors, this has been a difficult year but extremely rewarding. This year will be the inaugural year for the election of Directors. All eight positions will be declared vacant and are up for nomination by ballot. I urge you to consider nominating. To those members whom lost loved ones during the year, I offer my sincere condolences. To all of our members, it has been my pleasure to be your Chairman and I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I would be remiss in not mentioning the retirement of two Directors during the year, Mal Weber and Phil McAulay. Both were on the original amalgamation committee and spent a lot of personal time in seeing the amalgamation come to fruition. On behalf of the Board and Members, I would like to thank them for efforts over the past six years. Brian Huttly – Chairman TREASURER‟S REPORT This report for 2007 will be hard to compare with the 2006 report as the Club is back to 12 month reporting. The 2007 annual accounts are for 12 months whereas the 2006 report was for sixteen months. I am pleased to report that the net profit for the financial year 2007 was $187,057 (2006 $128,149). As mentioned by the Chairman, the refurbishment commenced in November but some of the costs have appeared in the previous financial year thus reducing the profit without receiving the gain from the refurbishment. The recently introduced smoking legislation, which commenced in July 2007, has had a reduction on our poker machine receipts for the last quarter compared to last year. The purchase of eight poker machines in October 2006 increased our revenue substantially for the first nine months but as mentioned earlier the new smoking legislation had an opposite effect on our revenue. It is envisaged that the refurbishment and capital investments will increase our revenue over the next nine months. Cash flow was satisfactory and the current refurbishment was fully funded internally. One of the shops at 30a George Street was unoccupied for the last three months of the financial year and it is hoped that this will be the tenanted early in the New Year. The old clubrooms were only tenanted for half the financial year so an increase in income will be forthcoming in the next financial year. Costs are constantly being reviewed and the sports in most cases are revenue neutral. I would like to thank Glen Taylor, Tess Havrlant and John Windon for their help during the year. Ian Blair - Treasurer THE BRIARS FOUNDATION LIMITED Directors: Colin Dennis (President), Ian Blair, Peter Dunlop, Ken Kable, John Price, Chris Walker, Warwick Williams. The Statement of Financial Position for The Foundation, to the year ended 30 June 2007, shows net assets of $239, 277 compared with $213,246 for the 2006 year. As of November 2007, there were thirty-five active members, which is an increase on twenty-one active members from 2006. Three members are deceased. During the year three grants were made: 1. $4,150 for goal posts at Rothwell Park 2. $26,345 towards the installation of lights at Greenlees Park 3. $150,000 towards the cost of resurfacing the hockey field Greenlees Park, which adjoins the clubhouse, is now the major training venue for rugby, but required lights to be installed for that purpose.

Pakistan claimed the honours in the dress rehearsal for the final with a memo- rable victory over the world champions in a dramatic day/night encounter at Trent Bridge on Tuesday. The game lived up to its billing right from the onset as Saeed Anwar and Saleem Elahi tore into the Australia attack. Elahi was in particularly impressive form, blast- ing 79 from 91 balls as Pakistan plundered 290 from their 50 overs. But, never wanting to be outdone, the Australians responded in fine style with Adam Gilchrist attacking the Pakistan bowling with equal relish. The wicketkeep- er sensationally raced to his 20th one-day international half-century in just 29 balls on his way to a quick-fire 70. Once Saqlain Mushtaq had ended his 44-ball knock however, skipper Waqar Younis stepped up to take the game by the scruff of the neck. The pace star is bowling as well as he has done in years as his side come to the end of their tour of England and his figures of six for 59 fully deserved the man of the match award and to take his side to victory.

During his tenure, Notts. have been very successful, winning the Championship in his inaugural months and in 2010. Firstly this is the first year national team as well. A Wag’s Tale that we've entered a second team in division Apart from the old staggers such as myself 3 of the BCF 45 over league competition. (very old), we've had some newcomers who This has proved to be a resounding success. have made an impact. Prashant, Anshul, The team finished mid table with 3 wins from Midhun, Ashish and Tom Garland have all 10matches including an exciting victory over copped man of the match awards in their Ostend Exiles and Gent Arcadians-2. Despite first year with the club. I would personally winning only 3 of its fixtures the team was like to see longtime members like John competitive in all matches but most Parker, Rob Goodchild, Duncan Lumsden importantly the 2nd team gave ample and Paul Harris come back. They are all opportunity to more players to play really known to be in Belgium and most still pay competitive one day cricket. We've been their annual fees but are not playing. But its bolstered by new members and look forward good to have younger guys like Sean to entering a second team in the league in Fortune, Prabhu and Sarav help reduce the 2014.

  • Cricket Memorabilia Society Postal Auction Friday 19
CRICKET MEMORABILIA SOCIETY POSTAL AUCTION FRIDAY 19th MARCH 2021 Part of Lot 344 CRICKET MEMORABILIA SOCIETY POSTAL AUCTION CLOSING AT NOON 19th MARCH 2021 Conditions of Postal Sale The CMS reserves the right to refuse items which are damaged or unsuitable, or we have doubts about authenticity. Reserves can be placed on lots but must be agreed with the CMS. They should reflect realistic values/expectations and not be the “highest price” expected. The CMS will take 7% of the price realised, the vendor 93% which will normally be paid no later than 6 weeks after the auction. The CMS will undertake to advertise the memorabilia for auction on its website no later than 3 weeks prior to the closing date of the auction. Bids will only be accepted from CMS members. Postal bids must be in writing or e-mail by the closing date and time shown above. Generally, no item will be sold below 10% of the lower estimate without reference to the vendor. Thus, an item with a £10-15 estimate can be sold for £9, but not £8, without approval. The incremental scale for the acceptance of bids is as follows: £2 increments up to £20, then £20/22/25/28/30 up to £50, then £5 increments to £100 and £10 increments above that. So, if there are two postal bids at £25 and £30, the item will go to the higher bidder at £28. Should there be two identical bids, the first received will win. Bids submitted between increments will be accepted, thus a £52 bid will not be rounded either up or down.
