On arrival, glasses and camera lenses fogged up as the heat hit us. The tempera - ture sat in the mid thirties for the duration of our trip. In Hanoi we saw Vietnam’s first university, the Temple of Literature, rem - nants of war at the War Museum, and a Buddhist pagoda. Making our way through some of Hanoi’s five million scooters, we later explored the streets for dinner and shopping before returning to our bizarrely affluent hotel amongst tiny shops and messy streets. Our next destination was Ha Long Bay, famous for its limestone island and caves. There, we stayed the night aboard a small cruise boat. Our afternoon was spent kayaking around a local fishing village and sunbathing on the top deck. We experi - enced making our own Vietnamese spring rolls, tried tai chi, and explored a World Heritage cave. Back on land we flew into Da Nang and met our new guide, Lap, or Lap-top, who took us to our hotel in Hoi An. This town was beautiful – we saw silk being made Delta.
